Is Dymonte Thomas only being offers the opportunity to play safety or have they said he might get a shot at RB as well?

Too bad Matthews committed to GA already. His highlight tape is very impressive.

I totally forgot to answer this. You probably know by now but Thomas is being recruited exclusively as a safety, and he has said that he intends to play defense.

I agree. Matthews looks like a good one. I think Michigan is okay at cornerback for a couple years, though.

Are you able to speak to which of these recruits has visited Michigan?

Off the top of my head, the following 2013 recruits have visited Michigan at one point or another:

Shane Morris, DeVeon Smith, Wyatt Shallman, LaQuon Treadwell, Adam Breneman, Jake Butt, Kyle Bosch, Ethan Pocic, Steve Elmer, Chris Fox, Henry Poggi, Billy Price, Taco Charlton, Ben Gedeon, Shaquille Wiggins, Dymonte Thomas, and I think Cam Burrows but I'm not sure. Some visited unofficially during the season, and others visited during this past summer.

@GitRdone, Jake Butt is reporting that Michigan coaches told him he's their #1 TE fwiw.

Thunder, any concern that no C has been offered yet?

Not really. The coaches know they need a center, so they either think they have a center on the roster (Bars?) or they think they might get Kozan. If Kozan goes to Auburn or Iowa, maybe we'll see an offer to a center go out.

I have yet to see anything official (an interview, etc.) that says Michigan is recruiting him as a running back. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I haven't seen it.

What are your thoughts on the offer to Riley Ferguson. I see that he is listed as a dual-threat to rivals, but he doesn't really seem like to true option type of QB. To me it seems like this offer is just so we can keep a presence at Butler.

Michigan offered Ferguson a long time ago. I think it was perhaps made to keep a presence at Butler, but it also serves Michigan well to get their foot in the door in case anything goes wrong with Shane Morris. If you offer a kid early but keep him on the back burner, at least you can develop a relationship in case your current guy (in this case Shane Morris) decommits or gets injured. You don't want to put all your eggs in one basket.

It seems that the coaches told Morris that we would only be taking one QB is 2013. Do you think this is smart? I know most people thought there was a good chance we would take 2, the second guy being a potential position switcher.

On Twitter, Morris said he doesn't really mind if we take another QB. I guess we will see how things shake out, but it would be nice to get a second QB like Roback or someone similar.

I really wish the coaches would get another quarterback. Otherwise, they'll be going on at least three consecutive seasons with only 3 scholarship quarterbacks. That makes it awfully scary if one of those guys transfers or suffers a serious injury.

None of the 4 sites lists Chase Abbington as having an offer.

It was reported by one of the sites on Twitter. TomVH said he was never offered, but the first site (247 Sports, maybe?) never recanted. I'm just leaving him up there out of indecision on my part, basically.

Just wondering if Jalyn Powell has a Michigan offer. Some site (Scout) listed yes, but thewolverine listed no. Any clarification?

By the way I never heard anything about this powell guy until his commitment to Michigan State this weekend.

The general sentiment is that he did not have a "committable" offer. But since Scout lists him as having an offer, I'll leave him on the board.

Isn't that always the case with an MSU commit? It's never committable if they go green. That helps us sleep at night.

      Feb 29, 2012 at 12:57 AM

Well…if he did have a "committable" offer, I would think it would be listed on some of the other sites. That's kind of the way it goes with these things sometimes. If only one site has an offer listed, I find that a little suspicious. Besides that, I believe at one point he said he would commit to Michigan if they offered. So the fact that he committed to MSU so early and didn't visit U of M suggests to me that he didn't have the option of becoming a Wolverine. The coaches don't seem to be pursuing safeties that heavily since they have Dymonte Thomas in the fold.

Hey Magnus, I was just wondering if you would want to take the time to adjust the order of the recruits in a fashion that has what you think are our best chance to get next under the players that are committed..it would help give insight on who you think is next best chance to come to michigan instead of having them in just some random order. I know this sounds like a big hassle but I think it would be very beneficial.
