I got to know young Wangler pretty well because he went to train with the same speed guy my son worked with, Lance long.

He’s a real good, although probably occasionally boneheaded ( East Lansing trip) kid. He used to tell me that he was 221 when he was 18/19, on which I mentally called bullshit.

I also know his dad a little through some mutual friends from Shrine. The truth is that Jared has pretty much the identical frame that dad has and just flat out never was, or will be enough boy to play linebacker in the BIG, and is probably the poster child for those who eat everything in sight, work out like an animal and still can’t get bigger simply because of having just ain’t gonna happen genetics.

      Ooopsies.

Just mentally move this quote over to the Wangler post.

FWIW, I also don’t believe he’s 6’2″ like it says on the roster. I never really understood why the likes of LSU and PSU offered, although I can see Michigan a little more since he can be a “program guy” as a legacy player in Ann Arbor. I also didn’t really understand the Under Armour All-American Game invitation. But oh well.

I’m 6’2 and stood next to him during one of his recruiting visits. He was SEVERAL inches shorter.Unless he hit a growth spurt in college he’s not close . I would guess 5’11 in bare feet.

I suspect the LSU offer was not legit, or perhaps for a preferred walk-on spot.

The PSU offer might have been but the program was still down from the Paterno stuff and that was a very large class of mostly 3-star kids. Michigan’s class (17 kids) scored as well as PSU’s class of 26.

Kind of ironic to discuss this in a ‘big man’ post.
