ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017

Ft. Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Mike Harley decommitted from West Virginia. He’s a 4-star, the #42 wide receiver, and #303 overall. Michigan had an in-home with him a few weeks ago, but he’s now favored to go to Miami.

OFF THE BOARD

Warren (OH) Harding safety Lynn Bowden committed to Kentucky. Bowden had put Michigan on his top list at one point, but there wasn’t a ton of contact between the two parties.

Clearwater (FL) Central Catholic wide receiver C.J. Cotman committed to North Carolina. He had previously been committed to Tennessee.

Hit the jump for several more players who committed elsewhere recently.

Gonzales (LA) East Ascension offensive tackle Adrian Ealy committed to LSU.

North Arlington (NJ) St. Joseph offensive guard Joshua Fedd-Jackson committed to North Carolina State.

Plantation (FL) American Heritage offensive tackle Kai-Leon Herbert decommitted from Michigan (LINK) and then pledged to Miami. He had long been expected to decommit, and I had him pegged for Florida. I would have changed my 247 Crystal Ball to Miami, but sometimes I just don’t have time to keep up with changing all those Crystal Balls. Oh well.

Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey decommitted from Ohio State and then committed to Nebraska shortly afterward.

Concord (NC) Concord safety Hamsah Nasirildeen flipped from South Carolina to Florida State. He was going to be a big pull for South Carolina as a 4-star, the #10 outside linebacker, and #111 in the country. Now he’s just another super-talented kid headed for Tallahassee.

Ft. Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Joshua Palmer decommitted from Syracuse and then committed to Tennessee. I guess he likes the color orange. Palmer said early on that Michigan was his dream school, but the Wolverines backed off a while ago.

Ann Arbor (MI) Pioneer linebacker Antjuan Simmons committed to Michigan State. Simmons is a one-time Ohio State commit who was also strongly considering Arizona after dropping from the Buckeyes. Michigan didn’t really re-enter the fray for him after he expressed annoyance that it took the Wolverines too long to offer him.

South Jordan (UT) Bingham defensive end Langi Tuifua committed to BYU. He had decommitted from Oregon back in November.

Independence (OR) Central defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu flipped from Washington to USC. He’s the #5 defensive tackle in the 247 Composite but #1 to 247 Sports alone. This may help Michigan with its top defensive tackle prospect in Aubrey Solomon, who also has the Trojans near the top of his list.

Englewood (NJ) Pope John XXIII defensive tackle Dalyn Wade-Perry committed to Stanford. He’s the #21 defensive tackle in the 2017 class.

Damn, I just looked over at OSU’s board. Were gonna be needing them tall corners.

Simmons and Rison will bring an interesting dynamic to the MSU rivalry.

Can’t help but wish Michigan had approached things differently with Simmons ( assuming Gay ends up elsewhere.) We have plenty of LBs and Simmons’ star has fallen a bit but he’s still an impressive athlete who sounds like a potentially good fit at OLB/Viper.

I have a difficult time not thinking that Michigan is so much better off without Simmons and think that the young man is a future locker room melanoma. Maybe not, but he seems in the embryonic cell state of the Terrell Owens Syndrome……. Far & away most young men his age & athletic ability manifest no where near his trait of “Why ain’t you noticed ME ENOUGH! already!!
Its a classic manifestation of a growing personality disorder and I’m all for letting it mature somewhere else.

      As I see it………….INTJohn

Despite not pursuing Simmons early, UM likely could have had him after he was processed by OSU a couple months ago. But they still showed no interest. UM filled their LB slots. Only reason they were after Gay is because he is a serious talent who can fill in right away at Viper.
