2018 Season Countdown: #114 Conner Edmonds

2018 Season Countdown: #114 Conner Edmonds

May 3, 2018

Conner Edmonds was Offensive Scout Team Co-Player of the Week against Florida last season (via Twitter)

Name: Conner Edmonds
Height: 6’5″
Weight: 252 lbs.
High school: Richfield (WI) Germantown
Position: Tight end
Class: Redshirt sophomore
Jersey number: #86
Last year: I ranked Edmonds #86 and said he would be a backup tight end. Edmonds did not see game action.

Edmonds has now been on campus for two seasons without seeing the field. He’s a year older, 1″ taller, and 4 lbs. heavier than Ryan Veingrad (profiled yesterday). That might give Edmonds a leg up on seeing the field, but it’s still an uphill climb to beat out the other tight ends on the roster, including incoming freshmen Mustapha Muhammad and Luke Schoonmaker. I do believe there is a possibility for Edmonds to get on the field in certain situations, but Michigan doesn’t have a cupcake schedule this year. At least one of the freshmen is likely to see the field, which might cost the walk-ons a few opportunities to get some snaps.

Prediction: Backup tight end

Kudos to Magnus for putting in the work for an MVP list stretching to around 119, especially without the help of a spring game to watch.

My guess for the top 100 or so:
Gary, Patterson, Higdon, Peoples-Jones, K. Hudson, T. Black, Winovich, D. Bush, L. Hill, Long, Peters, Ruiz, McCaffrey, Bredeson, A. Thomas, Dwumfour, Solomon, Kinnel, Onwenu, Metellus, Runyan, Evans, Paye, Gentry, Bushell-Beatty, Collins, McKeon, Spanellis, J. Hudson, Josh Ross, Uche, Gil, Mone, Hughes, Watson, Singleton, Furbush, Nordin, Woods, Kelly-Powell, Perry, Mason, Jeter, J. Glasgow, Vilain, Eubanks, Kemp, Crawford, Marshall, O. Martin, Wheatley, Schoenle, Filiaga, Samuels, J. Anthony, Walker, McDoom, Stueber, St-Juste, Ulizio, Robbins, Hawkins, Irving-Bey, Milton, R. Jones, McGrone, Tice, Sims, Vastardis, Cheeseman, R. Johnson, Paea, Honigford, C. Turner, K. Taylor, Barrett, Hart, Haskins, Muhammad, Faustin, Hutchinson, T. Wilson, Hewlett, Myers, Upshaw, Gemon Green, VanSumeren, Bell, Grodman, German Green, Gray, Mayfield, McCurry, Schoonmaker, Welschof, Sessa, R. Hayes, J. Speight, A. Robinson, Baldeck.

I ranked Bush, Hill, Long, and some others lower than some rankers probably have them because we have excellent depth at corner and Mike.
