SITE NEWS: We hit 50 avatars yesterday, so congrats to user #9, OVOXO, on winning the $50 Amazon gift card. Keep uploading avatars if you haven’t done so already. There will be another drawing at #75.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018

Harrisburg (PA) Harrisburg defensive end Micah Parsons decommitted from Penn State. He’s a 5-star, the #1 weakside end, and #3 overall in the 247 Composite. Normally this would seem like good news, except all the Crystal Ball picks coming in are for Ohio State.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2019

Richmond (TX) Fort Bend Travis wide receiver Arjei Henderson decommitted from Oklahoma. Michigan offered him earlier this month. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #9 wide receiver, and #37 overall. The 6’1″, 179-pounder has also landed offers from Auburn, LSU, Notre Dame, and Tennessee recently.

Hit the jump for several players who went off the board.

OFF THE BOARD

Stafford (VA) North offensive tackle Nana Asiedu committed to Penn State. He’s a top-100 prospect who never really gave Michigan a serious look. There’s geography, of course, as a reason for choosing PSU, but Penn State’s recruiting continues to baffle a little bit. I guess this has always been the case, though. Kids just don’t care about scandals that happen off the field. That’s the ultimate takeaway.

Rome (GA) Rome defensive end JaMarcus Chatman committed to LSU. The 6’3″, 261 lb. Chatman may end up inside at defensive tackle.

Melbourne (FL) Holy Trinity running back Jashaun Corbin committed to Tennessee. Corbin is the #6 all-purpose back and #390 overall. He just picked up an offer from USC before committing, but his mind was obviously already made up.

Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha defensive tackle Austin Fontaine committed to Maryland. The 6’2″, 312-pounder is #69 in the 247 Composite rankings, so this is a big pull for the Terrapins.

Memphis (TN) Harding offensive tackle Will Lawrence committed to Virginia. He reported an early offer from Michigan, but I’ve heard rumblings that such an offer did not actually occur. Regardless, he’s off the board to an ACC school.

Jacksonville (FL) Providence tight end Will Mallory committed to Miami. Mallory is going to have some work to do to become an in-line tight end, since he’s about 6’5″ and 207 lbs. right now. But he does have some good receiving skills. Mallory was considered a Michigan lock at one point, and I had my Crystal Ball on him to Michigan up until a few hours before his announcement. That’s because he’s a Michigan legacy. However, his position coach, Jay Harbaugh, moved to running backs coach, and his new position coach, Greg Frey, hasn’t coached tight ends before. Frey will get some help with tight ends from a graduate assistant, but that’s a reasonable excuse for wanting to go elsewhere.

Muskegon (MI) Muskegon offensive tackle Antwan Reed committed to Penn State. Reed is a 3-star, the #25 offensive tackle, and #337 overall. He did have a Michigan offer at one point, but he admitted that the Wolverines staff hadn’t really been in contact with him over the last eight months or so.

Newbury Park (CA) Newbury Park quarterback Cameron Rising flipped from Oklahoma to Texas. Rising was #5 in my rankings of Michigan targets at the QB position (LINK).

Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson committed to UCLA. He was #4 in my QB rankings, just ahead of Rising. Thompson-Robinson was considered a Michigan lean for a while, but Jedd Fisch’s departure for UCLA – as well as a little less competition for early playing time – seemed to push Thompson-Robinson toward the Bruins. He visited for the spring game two weekends ago, but that wasn’t enough.

MISCELLANEY

I put in a Crystal Ball for Olympia (FL) Olympia quarterback Joe Milton to Michigan a few days ago. A bunch more people have done so in the last 24 hours. He said recently that he’ll probably announce within the next week, so hang on to your hats.
