6-19-17 Recruiting Update: Is there an echo in here?

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018

Gardena (CA) Junipero Serra wide receiver Bryan Addison was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’3″, 172 lb. prospect with offers from Nebraska, Oregon, UCLA, and USC, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #9 athlete, and #221 overall. Addison could play receiver or safety at the next level. It’s next to impossible to pull someone from Junipero Serra since it’s USC territory, but miracles can happen . . . right?

Long Beach (CA) Poly quarterback Matt Corral decommitted from USC. I broke him down in my preview of 2018 quarterback recruiting (LINK), ranking him #2 of Michigan’s offers at the time. He’s a 4-star, the #2 pro-style quarterback, and #17 overall. Alabama, Florida, and Georgia have risen up on his list, and it’s not clear right now whether Michigan will pursue him or not.

Hit the jump for a couple more new offers and some other tidbits.

Conway (SC) Conway offensive tackle Raiqwon O’Neal was offered by Michigan. The 6’5″, 265-pounder has offers from Louisville, Maryland, and South Carolina, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 3-star, the #70 offensive tackle, and #876 overall. Hailing from the alma mater of former Michigan receiver Junior Hemingway, O’Neal can move really well and seems to be underrated at #876 overall.

Vero Beach (FL) Vero Beach linebacker David Reese was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’2″, 213 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Miami, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #27 outside linebacker, and #406 overall. This is not the same Michigan native who was at one time committed to the Wolverines in the 2016 class, but if this one commits to the Gators, then they would have two David Reeses at linebacker in 2018. For that reason alone, I hope he picks Florida.

OFF THE BOARD

Baltimore (MD) St. Frances offensive tackle Jaelyn Duncan committed to Maryland. He’s the #13 offensive tackle and #161 overall in the 2018 class.

MISCELLANEY

Michigan held its Aerial Assault QB Camp on Saturday, and there was a whole lot less star power this year. That’s because the NCAA instituted stricter rules about who can work camps, and Michigan couldn’t bring in the big-time QBs and QB coaches they have in the past; and that meant fewer quarterbacks wanted to come. Anyway, here’s a list of some QBs who attended (LINK).

Michigan held a smokehouse competition (a.k.a. a foot race) at its Super Skills Competition on Saturday, and here are the top three finishers:

  1. 2018 WR Xavier Scott from Germany
  2. 2019 WR Cornelius Johnson from Greenwich (CT) Greenwich
  3. 2019 WR Milton Wright from Louisville (KY) Christian

2 David Reeses would be hell on the UF equipment manager.

It would be very difficult for me to not send this kid over to Mattison, just to see what he can do.

      That would be O’Neal.

I agree that O’Neal could potentially be a monster defensive lineman, too.
