ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2019

Everett (MA) Everett safety Lewis Cine was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’2″, 170 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Indiana, Louisville, and Rutgers, among others. Cine is a hard-hitting safety from Don Brown’s old stomping grounds.

Eugene (OR) Sheldon quarterback Michael Johnson, Jr. was offered by Michigan. Johnson is a 6’3″, 185 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, and Oregon, among others. He claims a 4.57 forty. Jim Harbaugh took some ill-informed heat when it looked like Johnson’s dad – Michael Johnson, Sr. – was going to be hired onto Michigan’s staff. Instead, he was hired by Oregon when the tenth assistant coach job was pushed back to 2018, yet there wasn’t much blowback when Oregon hired the father of a recruit.

Hit the jump for some more new offers, as well as some guys who came off the board.

Crystal Lake (IL) South offensive tackle Trevor Keegan was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’6″, 310 lb. player with offers from Arkansas, Iowa, Northwestern, and TCU, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #7 offensive tackle, and #74 overall. He attended Michigan’s one-day Elite Camp last week, and the coaching staff offered him after a good showing. He stands up a little too high and has too narrow of a base for my liking, so I’m taking that ranking with a grain of salt.

Oxford (AL) Oxford offensive guard Clay Webb was offered by Michigan. He’s 6’3″, 297 lbs. with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, and Georgia, among others. He’s a 5-star, the #2 offensive guard, and #32 overall. He was good enough as a sophomore to have been invited to the Rivals 5-star Challenge. Michigan is probably not going to win this battle.

Washington (DC) Gonzaga defensive end Joseph Wete was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’3″, 228 lb. prospect with offers from Penn State, Pitt, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #10 weakside end, and #117 overall.

OFF THE BOARD

Orion (IL) Orion tight end Logan Lee committed to Iowa. Michigan had offered back in March, but there hadn’t been much buzz between the two parties.

Plano (TX) Prestonwood tight end Austin Stogner committed to Oklahoma. Stogner is the #3 tight end in the country, and Michigan had been pursuing him a little harder. It’s tough to figure out why elite tight ends aren’t jumping at the chance to play at Michigan, since the Wolverines just produced a Mackey Award winner and use a bunch of tight ends.
