FORMER COACHES
Head coach Rich Rodriguez, Arizona: Arizona fell to 6-6 with a 52-37 loss to Arizona State. Second-string QB Jerrard Randall got the start for the injured Anu Solomon, but after going 4/13 for 35 yards to begin, he was benched for third-string freshman Brandon Dawkins. Dawkins went 16/30 for 302 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions, adding 78 yards and 1 touchdown on the ground. But obviously it wasn’t enough. At 6-6 the Wildcats are bowl eligible, but it’s a step back for a program that was 10-4 last season.

FORMER COMMITS
CB Gareon Conley, Ohio State: Conley made 2 tackles and 1 pass breakup in Ohio State’s 17-14 upset loss to Michigan State.

RB Damien Harris, Alabama: Harris had 10 carries for 44 yards and 1 touchdown in Alabama’s 56-6 win over Charleston Southern.

LB Darrin Kirkland, Jr., Tennessee: Tennessee ruined Gary Pinkel’s final game as head coach at Missouri with a 19-8 win. Kirkland made 5 tackles in the process.

Sad to see Gary Pinkel go, especially under the circumstances. It isn’t easy winning at Missouri, Pinkel did it with some flair.

The local reaction to Arizona losing to ASU … zzzzzz. Nobody cares. They’re on to basketball.

I would not be surprised at all if Rodriguez jumps to another program, probably between now and a bowl game, or if an early bowl then immediately after. If he posts another middling season next year his stock drops quite a bit. With so many positions open, his best chances for greener pastures is now.

In other news, former commit Mike Weber tweeted out something to the effect of “If I could do it all again…”. Which might not have anything to do with football, but given the timing you can read a lot into that.

Between that and the usually quiet Kareem Walker going off on Ohio State fans a bit, it was an interesting few days for twitter comments of Michigan/Ohio State RB recruits.
