Interesting philosophical concepts both in terms of offense Strategy as well as tactics. I would like to comment on the authors discussion of the QB as a running threat where referring to the eleven defensive players who can make the tackle.

I’ve always thought that the defense actually has 13 players who can make a tackle – 2 of them can’t move and they comprise the 2 sidelines. If the ball carrier goes out of bounds either by choice or a push this is effectively a tackle and the play ends.

Offensively this gives even more credence to having as many ball carrier threats as possible to include a running threat QB but also a passing threat RB or WR – something hardly ever utilized at any level in order to offset the 13 possible tacklers.

    As I See It…………………INTJohn
