Former Michigan Athlete of the Week: Tom Brady

Tom Brady

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady went 35/53 for 337 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 35-14 win over the Tennessee Titans to move to the AFC Championship Game. This will be Brady’s seventh straight AFC Championship appearance. What he’s doing is ridiculous. They’ll face the Jaguars this coming weekend.

HONORABLE MENTION

  • Minnesota Vikings LB Ben Gedeon made 1 tackle in the 29-24 miracle win over the New Orleans Saints to move to the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles
  • Eagles DE Brandon Graham made 2 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 2 quarterback hurries in the 15-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons to move to the NFC Championship Game
  • Pittsburgh Steelers RB Fitzgerald Toussaint returned 2 kickoffs for 59 yards in a 45-42 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Jacksonville Jaguars SS Jarrod Wilson made 1 tackle and 2 pass breakups in the 45-42 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers to move to the AFC Championship Game

    We’re all about Tom Brady as always right? Right! But well I’ve been abit self serving of late in rooting for Tom. By ‘of late’ I mean like the last couple few seasons. A few years back I was ready to move on from rooting for the Patriots; nothing against Tommy per se’; I’m just bored with Belichick & the Pats basically turning into the New Milennial NFL equivalent of the 50’s Yankees & Celtics or the Lombardi 60’s Packers……….

    Was ready to move on, yes! But then came Deflategate and with it for me on a personal level a renewed desire to continue to root for the Pats……… You see I’ve always been one helluva rebel; anti establishment; anti Authoritarian; a Fuck Rules! For the sake of Rules; not a crowd follower Kind of guy and since Goodel’s ridiculous pursuit of Brady’s alledged attempt at destruction of the Integrity of the Game when Goodall continues to allow Ref’s to ‘throw games’; well it just made me want to see the NFL’s Governning Esablishment get it shoved up their Ass by the Pats just maybe one more time. So I found myself reverting to Go Tom! A couple more times………..

    He has his ‘One 4 the Thumb’ now and Now I too am ready to move on from the Pats.
    True confessions department and this is a ‘coming out’; I’ve always been a closet Gopher as in Minnesota Gophers – and really as in Minnesota sports Teams in general. (I remember when the Lakers were NOT! LA) So this year its worked out that I’m hoping for the Vikings to win it all! Sorry Tom.

    Why Minnesota? Well my mother whom I really never knew from almost the day I was born was from Minneapolis. As a young adult I visited the city several times where she had grown up; walked the neighborhoods; visited the high school where she graduated at a time when few women graduated and visited Minnehaha Park; a place she mentioned a fondness for in the only writing I have of hers……… Thats my minnesota connection.

    I’m not rooting for Tom to get beat by Jacksonville mind you; I’m rooting for the Vikings to beat Philadelphia. But if the Eagles & Patriots do meet in the Super Bowl; I can’t root for Philadelphia; ‘brotherly love’ just ain’t in my heart.

    Nothing personal Tom;
    Go Vikes!………………INTJohn
