Bill Belichick got miffed when a reporter asked whether it’s possible that Jimmy Garoppolo keeps the Patriots’ starting QB job after Tom Brady returns from his Deflategate suspension. So what would it take for Garoppolo to remain the starter? It sounds crazy, but Brady took over the job when he stepped in for an injured Drew Bledsoe and outplayed him…
I don’t mean this in a flippant way, he’s gonna have to be better than Brady. He’s going to have to be exceptionally great at reading defenses, then putting the ball into tiny windows or throwing open a batch of not incredibly gifted wide receivers and one wonderfully gifted tight end. i know how I’m betting.
Yeah, I see what you’re saying. This offense was okay before Brady, great with him, and pretty good with Matt Cassel that one year. It’s hard to see many other guys doing as well with a mediocre supporting cast.
