A new low, obviously. The question is why did it take so long to throw him out of the school. I also think this scandal (which players must've known) might have taken the air out of guys in the bowl game – evidenced by the lackluster performance of several players. I don't know the dynamics inside of the H hall to know about this 100%, but the keyword here is MIGHT.

    Magnus,
I value your contributions to Michigan the blogosphere tremendously (particularly your level-headed analysis of Michigan's players and recruits). In light of the content of this story, I think the "hot girls" tag and accompanying picture should be moved to a more light-hearted post.

      Magnus,
I wrote the first comment above. Thanks for taking down the picture. Keep up the good work on your coverage of Michigan, it is much appreciated.

It doesn't look good, but we don't know the details of how the process worked and why it took so long. The police didn't press charges, so it's certainly possible that it was a close case that needed a long time to work out.

On another note, I don't know if it's a great idea to have the hot girl picture for this post. I know there's nothing specifically wrong with it, but it just seems wrong.

… in response to a previous poster you shouldn't have to stop posting pictures of hot girls because of something that happened a few years ago.

This has been brought up quite a few times, since the Rodriguez era. I don't know why it came up again before the last 2 games of the year. Those who follow Michigan football intensely should've known about this for quite some time.

I'm not defending any alleged action Gibbons did. There were allegations against him years ago. But they were that: Allegations. He was a freshman at a party, he and his accuser, whom he had been friends with for a while, were both drinking, and then the alleged sexual assault happened. Charges weren't filed.

Again, I am not defending any alleged actions from Gibbons. I am not trying to defend him because I want our star players playing. I am trying to look at this from the eyes of someone familiar with the American justice system. He was never charged with a crime, he was never convicted of a crime.

The only thing I find particularly odd about this is the timing. Why was something done now? Did the accuser bring it up again? Did the new president just find out?

Right. I think we need to know a lot more about this before making judgment. If he was never charged or convicted of a crime, then we gotta wait until more info comes out.

I am the person that suggested not posting the picture of a hot girl with this particular story. I didn't say Magnus should never post pictures of hot girls; I also didn't say that he had to take the picture off of this story. I just suggested that he take that picture off of this story.

Thats a darn shame, however hope all goes well with all parties involved.

I am still pulling for Gibbons, I think he has a future in the pro's.
