In my heart I want Clemson to win, simply because I’m weary of the Alabama dynasty thing. But I fear Alabama has too many answers to whatever Clemson does. 42-34 sounds about right. Alabama probably goes up by 2 TDs early, and from there it’s catch-up by Clemson and they never get there.

I also want Clemson to win, but I do think Alabama has too much firepower, especially on defense. And I think Alabama has a mismatch with their WR vs. Clemson’s secondary.

I did not see the game, but I looked at the box score … it seems the difference in the game was two interceptions thrown by Alabama (were both returned for TDs, or just one?), and an imbalance in 3rd down conversion. Other numbers are roughly comparable. So my sense is Alabama moved the ball, but couldn’t move it when it counted.

Ah … I see the article recap for the game … which is a very nice write-up of what happened. Thanks for that.

Just one INT was returned for a TD. On the other one, the DB ran out of bounds to avoid getting destroyed by a giant Alabama lineman on the sideline.

You are right that Alabama stagnated when it counted.
