I’m sure there’s an explanation for what’s going on inside Michigan football.

But darned if I can make sense of it.

Ditto. It is a friggin mess. This one caught me by surprise. Based on what I had heard this was a good pickup. Can’t blame a guy if a better opportunity comes up but man wait a year after you commit. Getting all these hired guns can create a lot of instability. Wtf is going on

Well lets not over react on this. But. I’m still skeptical as to whether or not Harbaugh can build a team when there’s evidence for what ever reason or lack thereof it seems he can’t even build a decent complete coaching staff.

There doesn’t seem to be any stability, cohesion, continuity whatsoever when it comes to the offensive side of this team – be it on the field, recruiting, or coaching. Every other week it seems like another WTF is going on moment.

And the whole time nothing is heard directly from Harbaugh. What is he hiding in the bushes? The Great Wizard of ?? Hiding behind a curtain? Maybe his executive skirt?

I’ll be nice…….. but after 2018l Oh Mann there better be some improvement somewhere on a variety of levels or its just going to be too easy to crucify him!:
    Offense
    The Field
    Recruiting
    Coaching
Staff in general 4 what they’re being paid………..
I think I’ve already got enough evidence to really nail this shit to a wall regarding Harbaughs bull crap! I think he’s behind that wizard of OZ curtain pulling & reachin grasping & scramblin for all thoze levers & lil Dorothy is jez about to pul the curtain of bullshit aside.
Hope I’m in error – we’ll find out in 2018.

    Color me toe ahl skeptik……….INTjohn

Most coaching contracts at the college level have language that provides for coaches being able to move on to a higher position. There can be little doubt that a guy with Enos’ resume would negotiate a clause to that effect, if not language allowing him to move on for any reason. Associate Head Coach at Alabama is one helluva title for a college football lifer.

I would think that people would be pleased that Alabama and the NFL are actively soliciting our staff, as it indicates that we are hiring either guys at the top, or guys with a future. Or both.

I think it’s good that other teams are trying to get our guys, but it’s probably not great when they actually get them. That means we have to move on to Plan B. And a lot of hires have already taken place, so we might be down to Plan C or Plan D.

We have the cache, not to mention the cash, in our own right to pull coaches. I was never real comfortable with Enos even though I consider him to be a fine coach, wrong history to my way of thinking.

The world is full of excellent coaches.

You identify an issue above in that the recruiting for 2018 isn’t done yet. I believe that Pep offering 2019 Qbs is pretty meaningless, I think Drevno working at Patterson and the transfer kid is more telling. But nobody I get to talk to knows anything about staffing decisions.

I understand the thinking behind it, but I’m still not real crazy about all the Associate Head Coach, Run Game, Passing Game Coordinator designations.

I made a guy a VP once just to make him feel a little taller. Little idiot went and fired a guy when I was away on vacation. A huge mess ensued. That’s my life lesson for the day.

The weird thing about the QB offers is that they’ve offered several guys in the past couple days who are in the 6’1″ or 6’2″ range, which is generally not what Harbaugh has sought. I’m wondering if that’s because there aren’t a lot of tall pro-style QBs in the 2019 class (because there really aren’t), but I also thought there may have been some influence from Dan Enos. But if Hamilton ends up leaving and Dan Enos is gone, then we’re kind of back to square one in our passing game, and several offensive coordinators have already come off the board. I’ve seen some people lamenting that Matt Canada has already signed on at Maryland, and while I like Canada, I don’t think he and Harbaugh would mesh very well. But he’s just an example of guys who have already found jobs elsewhere. Michigan is a big enough program to pull people, but options are still more limited right now than they were a few weeks ago.

I would enjoy the concept that Harbaugh asks for as much accountability from his staff that he does from the athletes.

Five years to coach four is not a requirement as far as I know. When your position group shows little development why are you offered a raise and a contract extension?

I have deleted the rest of my post because it consists mostly of sarcastic humor and frustration. Aside from winning, I don’t know how to get out of this funk.

It would be a very strangely (and ineffectively) worded noncompete if being at Michigan for a month would enable Enos to get around it. Usually, a noncompete precludes a person from taking the defined position for a certain period of time, not just from going to the defined position immediately following the position he is in.
