Poll results: Which 2016 prospect will have the best career at running back for Michigan?

March 7, 2019

I was going through drafts of old posts, and I happened to come across this post from 2016. It answers (answered?) the question of which 2016 recruit would have the best career at running back for Michigan.

Here are the results:

Kareem Walker (530 votes): Walker redshirted in 2016 and then got 20 carries for 68 yards (3.4 YPC) and 1 touchdown in 2017. By 2018 he was playing at a junior college, and now he’s headed to Mississippi State.

Kingston Davis (305 votes): Davis did not redshirt, and carried the ball 2 times for 17 yards (8.5 YPC) against Hawaii in 2016. Unfortunately, he never ran the ball again, transferred to Independence Community College, and then played a few games at UAB before he was dismissed for allegedly doing illegal things.

Khaleke Hudson (175 votes): Hudson has totaled 135 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 11 pass breakups playing the Viper position, a hybrid safety/linebacker. He has not taken a snap on the offensive side of the ball even though he was a very productive running back in high school.

Chris Evans (95 votes): The fourth place finisher in the poll finishes as the obviously correct choice to the question. Evans has 304 carries for 1,722 yards (5.7 YPC) and 14 touchdowns in three seasons, along with having 40 catches for 392 yards (9.8 yards/catch) and 2 touchdowns.

Is Kareem Walker still at MissSt? Could have sworn I read he was leaving?

I guess it’s possible, but he just signed with them after going to JUCO. I would be a little surprised if he’s departing already, but then again…I shouldn’t be.

I can’t remember who I voted for but I suspect it wasn’t Evans. It has amazed me how often in recent years the RB with all the fuss hasn’t panned out.

Your latest poll is a proof for me of how I anticipate the RBs will be used as opposed to apparent skills they bring. I literally said to myself Charbonnet can be the future, but he is a freshman. Turner has promise but wasn’t he injured most of last season? Is he tough enough to be an every down back? Evans is maybe toast here. Wilson might just get the most carries especially early in the season as a known quantity to the Harbaughs. Good poll, please revisit this also in a couple of years.

When I watched video of Khaleke Hudson, before he ever played at Michigan, I thought he was going to be a RB at Michigan, a pretty good one. I was looking forward to see him carry the ball. He looked like a better RB in high school than LB. Shows what I know.

I wish we could have cloned him and put one on offense.

I’d put his clone at safety and then his 3rd clone at safety and then his 4th clone at ILB and then eventually maybe by #6 or 7 I’d get around to RB.
