Netori Johnson 654x

Ellenwood (GA) Cedar Grove offensive guard Netori Johnson

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017
Gadsden (AL) Gadsden City offensive tackle Toryque Bateman was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’8″, 315 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, and Tennessee, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #49 offensive tackle, and #409 overall. Bateman moves pretty well for his size, but he struggles to bend at the knees and needs to play lower.

Menomonie (WI) Menomonie offensive tackle Alex Fenton was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 280 lb. prospect with an offer from Wisconsin. His Hudl highlights are private and he has not received a ton of recruiting attention yet, so information is pretty slim.

Ellenwood (GA) Cedar Grove offensive guard Netori Johnson decommitted from Alabama. He’s a 6’5″, 330 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, and USC, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #4 offensive guard, and #114 overall. Johnson was committed to Alabama since last summer, and Michigan was the last offer he received before decommitting. Johnson was one of a flurry of offers that went out recently at Cedar Grove, and he was a teammate of 2016 Michigan signee Elysee Mbem-Bosse.

Hit the jump for some more 2017 offers, a couple 2018 offers, and some random bits.

Pittsburg (KS) Pittsburg defensive end Trevor Kent was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 242 lb. prospect with offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, and Northwestern, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #23 tight end, and #574 overall. Kent shows some promise as a tight end, but I like his play as an aggressive defensive end better. Early in the process, Kent said that he was liking Minnesota because of some family connections head coach Jerry Kill; since Kill is now retired, that might open up opportunities for other schools.

Pensacola (FL) Washington offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood, an Alabama commit, was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 297 lb. prospect with other offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, and USC, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #19 offensive tackle, and #125 overall. Leatherwood is a long, athletic left tackle prospect.

Plain City (OH) Jonathan Alder tight end Trey Pugh was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 225 lb. prospect with offers from Duke, Northwestern, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #24 tight end, and #609 overall. Pugh is a smooth route runner who doesn’t have a huge frame, but he seems underrated as a pass-catching tight end.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018
Westlake Village (CA) Oaks Christian quarterback Matt Corral was offered by Michigan and promptly committed to USC a few days later. Corral is a 6’2″, 185 lb. prospect who’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #2 pro-style QB, and #16 overall. As a sophomore in 2015, he threw for 3,283 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions.

Montgomery (AL) Park Crossing offensive guard Marcus “Tank” Jenkins was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’4″, 315 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and LSU, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #4 offensive tackle, and #20 overall.

MISCELLANEOUS
Calabasas (CA) Calabasas cornerback Darnay Holmes named a top seven that did not include Michigan. He also announced that he will make his college decision on June 23, so that does not bode well for Michigan’s chances of landing the #6 player in the country.

I don’t understand the thinking behind private Hudl highlights.

I changed the settings to give everyone an avatar. If you choose a Gravatar (gravatar.com), you can pick your own image. Otherwise, people will be getting some random images attached to their names.

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense to me, either. I mean, we do make our highlights private during the season to prevent opponents from scouting us, but we don’t make them private in the off-season.

Ahhhhh, of course. The scouting thing would have never dawned on me, but makes sense I guess, particularly if you’re in a conference with some resources.
