COMMITMENT

Cincinnati (OH) Moeller offensive guard Zach Carpenter committed to Michigan (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2019

Morrow (GA) Morrow safety Jamal Hill was offered by Michigan. He’s 6’2″, 190 lbs. and has offers from Arkansas, Memphis, and several others. He’s a 3-star, the #100 safety, and #1233 overall. He claims a 4.45 forty. As a junior in 2017, he made 67 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, and 16 pass breakups.

Washington (DC) St. John’s safety Quinten Johnson was offered by Michigan. He’s a 5’11”, 190 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Maryland, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #40 safety, and #468 overall. He has been a teammate of former Michigan QB commit Kevin Doyle at St. John’s.

Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei tight end Mike Martinez was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’6″, 240 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Cal, LSU, Oregon, and UCLA, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #27 tight end, and #692 overall. There are five crystal ball predictions, and each one is for the Bruins.

Hit the jump for several players who committed elsewhere.

OFF THE BOARD

Murfreesboro (TN) Siegel defensive end Joseph Anderson committed to South Carolina.

Concord (NC) Central Cabarrus linebacker Derek Boykins committed to South Carolina. It’s hard to blame defensive guys for wanting to play for Will Muschamp, who’s a pretty good defensive coach.

Detroit (MI) King safety Marvin Grant committed to Purdue. Michigan held 22% of the crystal ball picks, but the Wolverines had backed off in recent months.

Humble (TX) Atascocita offensive tackle Kenyon Green committed to Texas A&M. He had been committed to LSU at one point, but he decommitted from the Tigers back in December.

Flowood (MS) Northwest Rankin safety Jarrian Jones flipped from Oklahoma to Mississippi State. Jones was previously committed to Mississippi State before flipping to Oklahoma.

Scottsdale (AZ) Notre Dame wide receiver Jake Smith committed to Texas. He’s the #104 prospect overall in 2019.

Wake Forest (NC) Heritage linebacker Drake Thomas committed to North Carolina State. He was thought to be a Michigan lean at one point, with NC State being the primary competition. Well . . . the Wolverines lost out on that one, although it’s not clear how hard the Wolverines were pursuing over the last several months.

Alexandria (VA) Episcopal cornerback/safety Salim Turner-Muhammad committed to Stanford.

Washington (DC) Gonzaga defensive end Joseph Wete committed to Oklahoma. He visited Michigan in late March, but this was a little bit of a surprise, because he seemed to be a Penn State lean.

Hollywood (FL) Chaminade-Madonna cornerback James Williams committed to Wisconsin.

Valencia (CA) Valencia cornerback Mykael Wright committed to Oregon. This is a huge get for the Ducks, since Wright is just outside 5-star status at #40 overall.

MISCELLANEY

West Bloomfield (MI) West Bloomfield Viper prospect Lance Dixon named Michigan to his top 5. He’s the #16 OLB and #252 overall. The crystal ball favors MSU (57%) with Michigan having a pick in there, too.

Hollywood (FL) Chaminade-Madonna wide receiver John Dunmore named Michigan to his top 7 (LINK). There was a story floating around that he tried committing to Michigan when he visited a couple months ago, or at least was very close to it, but FSU currently has the crystal ball lead with 69% of picks. He’s the #18 WR and #107 overall and a teammate of cornerback commit Te’Cory Couch.
