Senior Highlights: Rashad Weaver

November 19, 2015

Cooper City (FL) Cooper City defensive end Rashad Weaver completed his senior season. He made 53 tackles, 7 sacks, 1 interception (returned for a TD), 2 forced fumbles, 6 pass breakups, 2 blocked punts, and 2 blocked field goals, according to Maizenbrew.

It’s hard not to be impressed with Weaver’s senior film. Despite going to a large high school, he looks like a man among boys out there on the football field. Listed at 6’5″, 241 lbs., he dwarfs the competition. He has also improved his explosiveness, technique, and athleticism from his junior year. I would not be surprised to see a rankings bump before February. He’s a currently a 247 Composite 3-star, the #112 defensive tackle, and #1930 overall.

Hit the jump for the film.

I wonder where this kid is gonna line up. I’m thinking TE as often as DE.

He can block. I like him better on defense, though. He’s a Wormley clone, except maybe with a better motor.

Thunder, you rated him as a 45 when he committed. Would you re-think this rating now that you have seen his senior films? Is he someone you would have taken given the alternative DE that might be available to UM?

I will revise my TTB Ratings after everyone’s senior film comes out, and Weaver will get a significant bump, I think.

I think there are better defensive ends out there, but not exactly in the same mold. Weaver is a strongside end or maybe a defensive tackle, whereas the guys I want Michigan to get are weakside end types because we need edge rushers.
