Kate Upton is not confused about where the money comes from.

“The sports are too specialized nowadays and require year-round attention,” Farrell says. “Between off-season lifting, spring ball, summer 7-on-7 and workouts and the football season, it is frowned upon for prospects to play multiple sports, honestly.”

The first sentence in the paragraph above is pure bullshit. The second is deadly accurate. This is particularly the case among football guys.

I’m confused about where the money comes from. Can you point me in the right direction?

I think sentences one and two go together. Maybe a semicolon should have been used. The sports themselves don’t require year-round attention, but the coaches of those sports often require year-round attention. When you’re not in-season, you’re expected to go to camps, lift, go to open gyms, do 7-on-7s, play fall baseball, work with a trainer, etc. I see that stuff all the time.
