Visitors: Michigan vs. Ohio State

Mecole Hardman, Jr. is the top-rated 2016 recruit headed to Michigan.

Michigan is in for a huge recruiting weekend, with several official visitors and a ton of underclassmen headed to Ann Arbor. I will update the list throughout this week, as I’m sure there will be additions and perhaps some subtractions. Below is the scoop on no fewer than 69 prospects.

2016
Drew Beesley – DE – Warren (MI) De La Salle:

Christian Boyd – DT – Muskegon (MI) Mona Shores:

Ben Bredeson – OT – Hartland (WI) Arrowhead: Bredeson committed to Michigan in June (LINK). This is his official visit.

Chris Brown – CB – Houston (TX) Alief Elsik: Brown is a 5’11”, 183 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, and UCLA. On 247 Sports, 75% of his predictions are in favor of Texas. He’s a teammate of linebacker Dontavious Jackson (see below). This is Brown’s official visit.

Devin Bush, Jr. – LB – Pembroke Pines (FL) Flanagan: Bush is a 5’11”, 226 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Florida State, and Michigan, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #11 inside linebacker, and #230 overall. His father is a former Florida State and NFL safety (and Bush, Jr.’s high school head coach). Recently, the talk has been that the three aforementioned schools are nearly tied at the top of his list, although Michigan has felt confident about their chances with him for a while. He has two teammates, safety Josh Metellus and safety/linebacker Devin Gil, who are committed to the Wolverines. UPDATE: Bush’s Friday playoff game will prevent him from making the trip.

Bailey Byrum – OT – Sweetwater (TN) Sweetwater:

Keyshon Camp – DT – Lakeland (FL) Lake Gibson: Camp is a 6’3″, 269 lb. prospect who committed to USC in June; he also has offers from Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Oregon, and Texas, among others. He took an official visit to Michigan earlier this year and is returning on his own dime.

Donnie Corley – WR – Detroit (MI) King: Corley is a 6’2″, 182 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Tennessee, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #20 wide receiver, and #118 overall. Michigan State is considered the front-runner, but Michigan has been making a push in his recruitment over the last few months. He has set his announcement date for December 8th.

Hit the jump for lots and lots and lots more visitors.

Visitors: Michigan at Penn State

Brooklyn (NY) Poly OT Isaiah Wilson

With Michigan hitting the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and Maryland areas hard in recruiting, many of the Wolverines’ targets will be at Penn State this Saturday for the game. I won’t give a writeup on all of those players since I usually reserve that for home games, but here’s a list of players who will see Michigan win (or lose) against Penn State.

Offered players are denoted with an asterisk.

2016
Quinn Nordin – P/K – Rockford (MI) Rockford (Penn State)*
Miles Sanders – RB – Pittsburgh (PA) Woodland Hills (Penn State)*
Joejuan Williams – CB – Hendersonville (NC) Hendersonville

2017
Jordan Anthony – LB – Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy*
Micah Clark – OT – Holmdel (NJ) Vianney*
Robert Hainsey – OG – Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy*
Devon Hunter – S – Chesapeake (VA) Indian River*
Donovan Jeter – DE – Beaver Falls (PA) Beaver Falls

Recruiting Update: October 28, 2015

South Jordan (UT) Bingham DT Jay Tufele

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016
Winter Garden (FL) West Orange wide receiver Eddie McDoom was offered by Michigan. He’s a 5’11”, 170 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #65 wide receiver, and #392 overall. As a junior in 2014, he caught 47 passes for 854 yards and 15 touchdowns. McDoom is a speedy receiver who adjusts well to the ball in the air, which is something Michigan lacks. He is expected to stay in SEC country.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017
Pittsburgh (PA) Central Catholic offensive guard Chris “C.J.” Thorpe was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’2″, 308 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Auburn, Penn State, and Pitt, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #6 offensive guard, and #220 overall. He is also a teammate of 2016 defensive back Damar Hamlin, who is expected to commit to Ohio State sooner or later. Some sites list him as a defensive tackle, but I think he might be a little too stiff to play defense. However, he is a very violent and relentless blocker on offense who has good foot quickness, if not ideal flexibility.

Hit the jump for another few 2017 offers, a 2018 offer, some guys who went off the board, and some other bits.

Visitors: Michigan vs. Michigan State

Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy tight end Isaac Nauta is one of many elite players scheduled to be in town.

I have shortened down some of the writeups this week for the sheer number of prospects visiting. It’s a huge recruiting opportunity for Michigan.

2016
Korey Banks – WR – Tyrone (GA) Sandy Creek: Banks committed to North Carolina in July after being offered by the Wolverines. He unofficially visited in the spring and reportedly had a great visit, but the Tarheels pulled him in, anyway. Michigan was initially recruiting him as a wide receiver, although he could also play cornerback.

Donnie Corley – WR – Detroit (MI) King: Corley said he will probably make it. He is strongly considering both Michigan and Michigan State, so it would make sense for him to check out the game.

Dylan Crawford – WR – Rancho Santa Margarita (CA) Catholic: This is Crawford’s official visit.

Hit the jump for lots and lots more visitors.

Recruiting Update: October 14, 2015

Ten-year veteran NFL safety, or high school senior Kareem Walker?

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016

Ann Arbor (MI) Skyline linebacker Daelin Hayes decommitted from USC. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #9 outside linebacker, and #105 overall. He recently took a visit to Notre Dame, has set one up for Ohio State, and is also looking at Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Texas. Michigan does not appear to be on the list, and I’m not sure they should be. Hayes – the cousin of former Michigan running back Justice Hayes – went to Orchard Lake (MI) St. Mary’s as a youngster, transferred to California for his junior year, and then returned to the state of Michigan for his senior season. In the meantime, he has suffered multiple season-ending injuries and played only a handful of total games. At 6’3″, 254 lbs., recruiting analysts rave about his athleticism when he’s healthy, but he might just be one of those guys who can never stay healthy. He also has some people trying to steer him away from staying within the state.

Torrance (CA) North linebacker Mique Juarez also decommitted from USC. He’s a 6’2″, 222 lb. prospect who has seen a number of Crystal Ball predictions go in favor of UCLA over the past couple months. He’s a 247 Composite 5-star, the #2 outside linebacker, and #17 overall. The U.S. Army All-American said before he decommitted from the Trojans that he wanted to take an official visit to Michigan, so the Wolverines may be able to get in the race. However, the Bruins are having a pretty solid season (4-1 so far), and Juarez seems like a guy who wants to stay pretty close to home.

Hit the jump for some 2017 and 2018 offers, some guys who went off the board, and some random bits.
