2016 Recruiting Update: December 16, 2015

Pembroke Pines (FL) Flanagan LB Devin Bush, Jr.

COMMITMENT
Thompson’s Station (TN) Independence wide receiver Nate Johnson committed to Michigan (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016
Nixa (MO) Nixa tight end Chase Allen was offered by Michigan. Allen is a 6’7″, 224 lb. prospect with offers from Illinois, Indiana, and Minnesota, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 3-star, the #26 tight end, and #560 overall. You may remember that Michigan pursued his class of 2015 teammate Alec Murphy for a little while in the last class, though he ended up signing with Mississippi State. Allen is a long, lanky player who splits out wide to play some receiver, and he is similar to redshirt freshman Ian Bunting in some ways, though Allen is probably a better blocker than Bunting was at this stage.

Hit the jump for some players who went off the board and lots of miscellaneous tidbits.

He claims a 4.47 forty and a 4.05 shuttle. As a senior in 2015, he caught 87 passes for 1,710 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Recruiting Update: December 2, 2015

Detroit (MI) King cornerback Lavert Hill

COMMITMENT
Houston (TX) Westside defensive tackle Jordan Elliott committed to Michigan (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016
Detroit (MI) King cornerback Lavert Hill decommitted from Penn State. Hill is a 5’11”, 175 lb. prospect with offers from Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, and UCLA, not to mention the in-state schools. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #11 cornerback, and #136 overall. Hill’s older brother is Michigan safety Delano Hill, and sources have been saying for months that it would just be a matter of time before Lavert flipped to Michigan. However, he is taking an official visit to Tennessee this coming weekend. He has visited Michigan numerous times and says he will announce at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Dade City (FL) Pasco cornerack Jayvaughn Myers decommitted from Florida. Myers is a 6’1″, 185 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, and Michigan, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #24 cornerback, and #258 overall. It’s unclear why Myers is decommitting from Florida with their defensive prowess, but he did recently pull in an offer from the Crimson Tide. Myers is the brother of 2016 prospect Nate Craig-Myers, the top wide receiver in the country.

Hit the jump for a new 2018 offer, some guys who committed elsewhere, and some random tidbits.

Recruiting Update: October 14, 2015

Ten-year veteran NFL safety, or high school senior Kareem Walker?

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016

Ann Arbor (MI) Skyline linebacker Daelin Hayes decommitted from USC. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #9 outside linebacker, and #105 overall. He recently took a visit to Notre Dame, has set one up for Ohio State, and is also looking at Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Texas. Michigan does not appear to be on the list, and I’m not sure they should be. Hayes – the cousin of former Michigan running back Justice Hayes – went to Orchard Lake (MI) St. Mary’s as a youngster, transferred to California for his junior year, and then returned to the state of Michigan for his senior season. In the meantime, he has suffered multiple season-ending injuries and played only a handful of total games. At 6’3″, 254 lbs., recruiting analysts rave about his athleticism when he’s healthy, but he might just be one of those guys who can never stay healthy. He also has some people trying to steer him away from staying within the state.

Torrance (CA) North linebacker Mique Juarez also decommitted from USC. He’s a 6’2″, 222 lb. prospect who has seen a number of Crystal Ball predictions go in favor of UCLA over the past couple months. He’s a 247 Composite 5-star, the #2 outside linebacker, and #17 overall. The U.S. Army All-American said before he decommitted from the Trojans that he wanted to take an official visit to Michigan, so the Wolverines may be able to get in the race. However, the Bruins are having a pretty solid season (4-1 so far), and Juarez seems like a guy who wants to stay pretty close to home.

Hit the jump for some 2017 and 2018 offers, some guys who went off the board, and some random bits.
