18 Michigan Players Participating in 2024 NFL Combine

Zak Zinter

The following 18 Michigan football players are participating in the 2024 NFL Combine. That’s a record number of players invited to the Combine for any school. They are:

  1. QB J.J. McCarthy
  2. RB Blake Corum
  3. WR Cornelius Johnson
  4. WR Roman Wilson
  5. TE A.J. Barner
  6. OL Karsen Barnhart
  7. OL La’Darius Henderson
  8. OL Trente Jones
  9. OL Trevor Keegan
  10. OL Drake Nugent
  11. OL Zak Zinter
  12. EDGE Jaylen Harrell
  13. EDGE Braiden McGregor
  14. DT Kris Jenkins, Jr.
  15. LB Michael Barrett
  16. LB Junior Colson
  17. CB Mike Sainristil
  18. CB Josh Wallace

Over 300 players were invited to the Combine, and last year 259 players were drafted. So mathematically, not every player invited will end up being selected. But if everyone gets drafted, that would set a record for the most players drafted from a school in one year. The current record is 15, which was set by Georgia.

Former Michigan players TE Erick All (Iowa), QB Joe Milton (Tennessee), and EDGE Eyabi Okie-Anoma (Charlotte) will also be at the Combine, as will former Michigan signee WR Xavier Worthy (Texas).

2023 NFL Combine Results

D.J. Turner II (image via ESPN)

Cornerback D.J. Turner II was one of the standouts, posting the fastest 40-yard dash time out of all players so far with a 4.26. It’s the fourth fastest time since 2003, according to ESPN. He’s 5’11”, 178 lbs. with 30 3/4″ arms and 9 5/8″ hands. He had a 38.5″ vertical jump and a 10’11” broad jump.

Meanwhile, defensive tackle Mazi Smith was a strength standout with the top bench press number so far (34 reps at 225 lbs.). He measured in at 6’3″, 327 lbs. with 33 3/4″ arms and 9 3/4″ hands.

Defensive end Mike Morris is 6’5″ and 275 lbs. with 33 1/2″ arms and 10″ hands. He ran a 4.95 forty with a 28.5″ vertical, a 9’2″ broad jump, and 22 reps on the bench press.

Still left to test are wide receiver Ronnie Bell, center Olu Oluwatimi, offensive tackle Ryan Hayes, kicker Jake Moody, punter Brad Robbins, and tight end Luke Schoonmaker.

2023 NFL Combine Invitees

Mazi Smith

Michigan has nine players participating in the NFL Combine this week/weekend.

And if you’re like me, you’re dying to see the bench press and vertical jump numbers for Brad Robbins.

Here is the full list of participants:

  • WR Ronnie Bell
  • OT Ryan Hayes
  • K Jake Moody
  • DE Mike Morris
  • C Olu Oluwatimi
  • P Brad Robbins
  • TE Luke Schoonmaker
  • DT Mazi Smith
  • CB D.J. Turner II

Both defensive tackle Mazi Smith and cornerback D.J. Turner II were on Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks List” prior to the 2022 season. Smith bench pressed 325 for a total of 20 reps in the off-season, and some think Turner might be able to run in the high 4.2s in the 40-yard dash.

8 Michigan Players Invited to NFL Combine

Aidan Hutchinson

There are eight Michigan players who have been invited to perform at the NFL Combine:

  • CB Vincent Gray
  • RB Hassan Haskins
  • S Daxton Hill
  • DT Chris Hinton
  • DE Aidan Hutchinson
  • DE David Ojabo
  • LB Joshua Ross
  • OG Andrew Stueber

A few draft-eligible players were not invited, including WR Daylen Baldwin, S Brad Hawkins, and C Andrew Vastardis. I guess this is my time to reiterate how weird it is for Baldwin to have declared for the draft, since he did not factor much into the Michigan attack this past season. It’s also interesting that Hawkins was not invited despite being literally the most experienced player in Michigan history (by games played).
