ANNOUNCEMENTS

There aren’t many announcements scheduled for the game, especially pertaining to Michigan, but here are the three that I know of so far:

  • S Markquese Bell
  • CB/S Deangealo Gibbs
  • S Xavier McKinney

Bell was a Michigan lean at one point, but the Wolverines backed off. Gibbs was offered but not interested, and McKinney wasn’t pursued by Michigan.

STORYLINES FOR MICHIGAN

  • Safety Jaylen Kelly-Powell has been working some at cornerback. I don’t think he has the hips, quickness, or speed to play corner, so it will be interesting to see how he does.
  • Defensive end Kwity Paye was voted into the game by fans (because Michigan has a lot of fans), but he has reportedly been struggling in practice this week.
  • Center Cesar Ruiz has been one of the better performers and is expected to start. He has been playing center for a high-level program, so I expect him to play pretty well. Depending on what happens with Michigan’s roster, he may find himself in a backup role next season.
  • Defensive end Luiji Vilain has been mentioned by multiple observers as one of the top players in attendance, and they like his quickness off the edge, as well as how well he uses his hands.
  • Michigan doesn’t have a great shot at many other guys playing today, but they continue to pursue OT Isaiah Wilson, OG C.J. Thorpe, S Paris Ford, and WR Daquon Green.

What about Pola-Mao? I remembered reading that UM was in the mix for his recruitment?

Michigan offered him late, and I don’t think they’ll be able to work their way to the front of that one.
