COMMITMENTS

Atlanta (GA) Westlake cornerback Myles “Spider” Sims committed to Michigan (LINK), and I couldn’t help thinking of this:

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018

Orlando (FL) Dr. Phillips offensive tackle John Campbell was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 284 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, and a bunch of others. He’s a 3-star, the #28 offensive tackle, and #419 overall. Michigan has recruited Dr. Phillips a fair amount over the years – including Demetrius Hart, Ricardo Miller, and Robert Porcher IV – but without much success.

Chandler (AZ) Hamilton quarterback Tyler Shough was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’4″, 187 lb. prospect with offers from Indiana, Missouri, and South Carolina, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #20 pro-style quarterback, and #551 overall. This may be in response to Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson rumored to be leaning toward UCLA, but Shough’s less impressive offer list may lead him toward Ann Arbor, though he has yet to even visit. As a junior in 2016, Shough was 142/230 (61%) for 2,089 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions.

Hit the jump for more 2018 and 2019 offers, plus several more bits and pieces.

Waldorf (MD) North Point offensive tackle Rasheed Walker was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 280 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Ohio State, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #16 offensive tackle, and #202 overall.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2019

Richmond (TX) Travis wide receiver Arjei Henderson, an Oklahoma commit, was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’1″, 179 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, and UCLA, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #9 wide receiver, and #36 overall. As a sophomore in 2016, he caught 100 passes for 1,401 yards and 18 touchdowns.

OFF THE BOARD

Dallas (TX) Carter defensive end Jarell Cherry committed to LSU. Cherry is the #11 weakside end and #212 overall.

Hightstown (NJ) Peddie School center Dan Dawkins committed to Vanderbilt. Rivals ranks Dawkins as the #1 center in the country, so it’s weird for Vanderbilt to get the #1 anything in regards to football.

West Palm Beach (FL) Lakes safety Gurvan Hall committed to Miami. The Hurricanes now have fifteen commitments for the 2018 class, and they’re ranked #1 overall.

Cheshire (CT) Cheshire Academy linebacker Dillon Harris committed to UConn. Harris, who was a teammate of Tarik Black’s in high school, seemed likely to commit to Michigan shortly after he was offered, but the Wolverines haven’t continued to recruit him hard. He’s the #65 outside linebacker and #929 overall in the 2018 class.

MISCELLANEY

247 Sports released its Top247 for 2019 (LINK).

Here’s a list of the Michigan commits, including Myles Sims, who have taken part in the Under Armour All-American GameĀ (LINK).

Might just be me, but Tyler Shough looks like a similar prospect to Dylan McCaffrey.

I see that a little bit. Similar body types, at least. I think McCaffrey is a little more polished, has a quicker release, better mechanics, etc.
