ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018

Miami (FL) Central running back James Cook decommitted from Florida State. He’s a 4-star, the #3 running back, and #33 overall. At 5’11” and 181 lbs., he runs a 4.51 forty. The brother of Dalvin Cook, he was expected to continue the Cook legacy at FSU, but now it appears he’s likely to end up signing with Georgia.

Ontario (CA) Colony tight end Michael Ezeike was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 210 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, UCLA, and USC, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #17 tight end, and #413 overall. This appears to be a wide-open race right now, but Michigan does need a tight end or two in this recruiting class.

Valdosta (GA) Lonwdes offensive tackle Jalen Goss was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’5″, 250 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Maryland, Mississippi State, and Oregon, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #66 offensive tackle, and #781 overall. He’s a teammate of 2018 running back Michael Barrett, whom Michigan is recruiting as a running back and Wildcat quarterback.

Hit the jump for a couple more new offers, along with several players who committed elsewhere.

Indianapolis (IN) Lawrence Central linebacker Cameron McGrone was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’1″, 215 lb. prospect with offers from Indiana, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #17 outside linebacker, and #245 overall. He already named Michigan to his top group, and I – along with several others – have put in a Crystal Ball for him to pick Michigan.

Moultrie (GA) Colquitt County linebacker J.J. Peterson was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’1″, 210 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, and Georgia, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #2 outside linebacker, and #41 overall. I wasn’t aware that Michigan had offered him until he named the Wolverines to his top five at The Opening last week.

West Palm Beach (FL) Oxbridge Academy safety Cajuan “C.J.” Smith decommitted from Florida. He’s a 6’2″, 193 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Louisville, LSU, and Oklahoma, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #17 safety, and #208 overall. He is not likely to consider Michigan.

OFF THE BOARD

Fort Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas cornerback Al Blades, Jr. committed to Miami. He’s a legacy prospect for Miami, so this was not a surprise in the least.

Washington (DC) H.D. Woodson cornerback Noah Boykin committed to Maryland. He’s a long, athletic cornerback for D.J. Durkin.

Orlando (FL) Dr. Phillips offensive tackle John Campbell committed to Miami.

Rome (GA) Rome defensive end Jamarcus Chatman committed to Tennessee, despite having named Michigan to his top ten. His defensive line coach in Knoxville will be the one, the only Brady Hoke.

Missouri City (TX) Fort Bend Marshall offensive guard Barton Clement committed to Texas A&M.

Brooklyn (NY) Erasmus Hall cornerback Aron Cruickshank committed to Wisconsin. Michigan was not actively recruiting him at this point.

Lehigh Acres (FL) Lehigh running back Chris Curry committed to LSU. Michigan had also backed off of recruiting Curry.

Paramus (NJ) Catholic defensive end Dorian Hardy committed to Penn State. Michigan has had a pipeline to Paramus Catholic in recent years, but Hardy transferred there less than a year ago and doesn’t have the same connection to Chris Partridge. It will be interesting if Partridge can keep that pipeline going now that he’s been gone for a few years.

Seattle (WA) Garfield wide receiver Tre’shaun Harrison committed to Oregon. This news was very sad for me, because Harrison has the best highlight film in the 2018 class, in my opinion.

Brooklyn (NY) Erasmus Hall defensive tackle Matthew Jones committed to Ohio State. He’s a teammate of Cruickshank’s (see above), who wasn’t being recruited by the Buckeyes, but OSU has had a pipeline to Erasmus Hall over the past several years.

Yoakum (TX) Yoakum wide receiver Joshua Moore committed to Nebraska.

Cypress (TX) Cy Springs safety Leon O’Neal, Jr. committed to Texas A&M.

Ferriday (LA) Ferriday defensive tackle Dare Rosenthal committed to LSU.

Washington (DC) H.D. Woodson running back Mychale Salahuddin committed to USC. Another kid with an impressive highlight reel, I was hoping Michigan could reel him in. He put Michigan in his top 11 at one point, but the writing was on the wall that he would probably end up a Trojan.

Ponte Vedra Beach (FL) Nease tight end Zach Sheffer committed to LSU. At a listed 6’3″ and 230 lbs., he’s probably more of an H-back type.

Dayton (OH) Dunbar running back Tavion Thomas committed to Oklahoma. A physical 6’2″, 225 lb. bruiser of a running back, Thomas is rumored to potentially have some qualifying issues.

Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy defensive end Stephon Wynn, Jr. committed to Alabama. A South Carolina native, he’s the #5 strongside end and #104 overall.
