As Michigan and the modern football world keep inching together, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at the school’s all-time leaders in passing attempts. This 2020 season probably won’t break many records due to the shortened schedule, but if Michigan were playing 12 or 13 games this year . . . look out!

I think it’s noteworthy that every year since 2001 is included on this list except for years when injuries muddied the quarterback situation:
- 2008 (Nick Sheridan/Steve Threet)
- 2012 (Denard Robinson/Devin Gardner)
- 2017 (Wilton Speight/John O’Korn/Brandon Peters)
Current Michigan quarterback Joe Milton is averaging 35.7 attempts per game, which puts him on a pace for 321 attempts over nine games in 2020, which would put him at #14 overall. If the Wolverines were to play twelve regular season games and a bowl game, that would put him on pace for 464 attempts (#1 overall).
