Florida State did a dumb thing and used Martin Luther King, Jr. wearing a Nike glove in their recruiting efforts (LINK).

Richard Deitsch talked to Tony Romo, who was the biggest winner of conference championship weekend, and who earned the gig of announcing the Super Bowl for CBS (LINK).

Hit the jump for some other good stuff.

2020 Recruiting Update: January 21, 2019

Buford (GA) Lanier LB Phillip Webb (image via Hudl)

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2020

Xavion Alford – S – Pearland (TX) Shadow Creek: Alford is a 6’1″, 186 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, LSU, Nebraska, and Oregon, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #21 safety, and #373 overall.

Peny Boone – RB – Detroit (MI) King: Boone is a 6’2″, 225 lb. prospect with offers from Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan State, and Purdue, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #29 running back, and #360 overall. Boone is the younger brother of the late Zurlon Tipton, a Central Michigan running back who went on to play for the Indianapolis Colts before dying from a gunshot wound. Boone is a thick running back with pretty nifty feet; he seems to play faster than his reported 4.81 forty time.

Jay Brunelle – WR – Worcester (MA) St. John’s: Brunelle is a 6’2″, 195 lb. prospect with offers from Boston College and UMass, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #159 wide receiver, and #1004 overall. He claims a 4.56 forty, and he caught 70 passes for 1,157 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior in 2018.

Hit the jump for a bunch of other new offers.

Nightly Roundup: January 20, 2019

Jimbo Fisher (image via Football Scoop)

A website called Super Tailgate contacted me about sharing their website, which is a neat idea. They put together a tailgate cookbook (who doesn’t like food?) and a tailgating guide for a bunch of stadiums, including Crisler Arena.

Here’s Mel Kiper, Jr’s mock draft 1.0, which has Ohio State’s Nick Bosa going #1 to the Arizona Cardinals (LINK). It would take some guts to draft a guy who missed his previous year of college football.

Football Study Hall talks about why Utah’s Kyle Whittingham and Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher are special teams masters (LINK).
