Drake Harris
Redshirt junior wide receiver Drake Harris is transferring for his fifth year of football. It was reported earlier in the year that Harris left the football program and was going to join the basketball team, but then Tarik Black got hurt and Harris never made any appearances with the basketball program.
He ended up returning to the football team and played in four games, making 1 catch for 10 yards against Ohio State. In total, he made 9 receptions for 60 yards in four seasons in Ann Arbor. He was hampered early in his career (and toward the tail end of his high school career) by hamstring issues, though that problem seems to have cleared up in the past two years.
Harris was a 4-star, the #7 wide receiver, and #68 overall in the class of 2014, according to the 247 Composite. In that respect, he’s one of the more disappointing recruits Michigan has landed in recent years. For the #68 player to only make 9 catches over a full career – and to be passed by numerous lower-rated players – that’s quite a letdown. Particularly this season when Michigan was low on experienced receivers, Harris had a prime opportunity to play but got stuck behind Black, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Kekoa Crawford, and others.
This hurts Michigan very little for 2018 and opens up a scholarship for another player. Harris has struggled to get on the field in the past, and there’s no reason to think he would become an important cog next season.

TRANSFERS
Devin Asiasi, TE (UCLA): Asiasi sat out the season due to NCAA transfer rules. He will presumably stick around to play for Chip Kelly as a redshirt sophomore in 2018.
Kyle Bosch, OG (West Virginia): Bosch has started 11 games for West Virginia, who suffered a 59-31 loss to Oklahoma. The Mountaineers went 7-5 in the regular season.
Ross Douglas, LB (Rutgers): Douglas made 4 tackles in a 40-7 loss to Michigan State. Rutgers is 4-8 and won’t play in a bowl game, so Douglas finishes his final college season with 37 tackles, 4 pass breakups, and 1 quarterback hurry.
Shane Morris, QB (Central Michigan): Morris completed 19/37 passes for 247 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception in a 31-24 win over Northern Illinois. He also had 6 carries for -37 yards.
Dan Samuelson, OG (Eastern Michigan): Samuelson was a part-time starter for EMU this season. They went 5-7 after a 34-31 win over Bowling Green to end the season.
Wyatt Shallman, DE (Ohio): Shallman did not play in Ohio’s season finale, a 31-24 loss to Buffalo. At 8-4 the Bobcats will presumably play in a bowl game. Shallman has only played during a five-game stretch in the middle of the season, totaling 13 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 1 pass breakup so far.

Let’s see more of this guy on offense . . . Brandon Peters. If Peters were the quarterback in this game, I think Michigan probably wins it. Unfortunately, Peters got concussed against Wisconsin and was still in concussion protocol when the Ohio State game came around. It was the right call for the health of Peters, and I’m glad the medical staff didn’t clear him. But it was unfortunate for Michigan. Hopefully Peters is ready to go for the bowl game.
Let’s see less of this guy on offense . . . John O’Korn. O’Korn didn’t have an absolutely terrible game (17/32, 195 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT), but he missed a handful of open receivers and threw a really, really, really, really, really bad interception when Michigan was down just 24-20 with a little less than three minutes left. O’Korn took the blame for the loss, and that’s entirely fair. Good for him. But he doesn’t give Michigan a very good chance to win.
Let’s see more of this guy on defense . . . Tyree Kinnel. For most of the season, I’ve said I like the defensive rotations. I just want Kinnel to be healthy after it looks like he suffered a concussion when hitting Ohio State receiver Austin Mack.
Let’s see less of this guy on defense . . . Jordan Glasgow. As much as I respect the Glasgow family – and even Jordan himself – Michigan has better safeties. Both Kinnel and J’Marick Woods got injured, which forced Glasgow into action late in the game. Hopefully, he can just concentrate on special teams in the bowl game.
Play of the game . . . Donovan Peoples-Jones’s 42-yard punt return. Peoples-Jones made several people miss, accelerated up the sideline, lowered his shoulder, broke a tackle, spun back for extra yards, etc. It was a brilliant return, and it indicated that it would be great if Michigan could find ways to get him the ball more.
MVP of the game . . . Rashan Gary. Naysayers might point to Gary’s missed tackle, which came right after he left the game with a shoulder injury (that seems to have been nagging him for several weeks). It didn’t look great, but bad shoulders can do that to a guy. Even so, he finished the game with 10 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks. He was Michigan’s best defensive player on Saturday, and nobody on offense had a standout game.
