Cool for Vazquez. Might get to play for top 10 baseball program and a top 10 football program.* Not many can say that.

    *some may quibble

Again, we’re not a top10 football team. Every top10 team last year won at least 11

Despite an easier schedule, you referred to an 11 win projection as ‘unrealistic’

Top15-20. Good, but not great. Far from elite

Sorry this makes you so upset. But the facts are the facts.

We are top 10 football program. Since Harbaugh got here. Look at the results. Look at the rankings. Look at the stats.

It’s obvious when someone has never competed. Coaches & players measure each play, each game, each season. An average over a selected period of time earns zero trophies. Not a single competitor thinks, ‘hey, this season sucked, but at least my average is OK”

That’s why crap like that is on Twitter, where it belongs. It’s why even you, who points at fans for being pessimistic, considers 11wins ‘unrealistic’ ?

          GO BLUE!

Mr competition keeps dodging. Probably better than losing and welching.

Far from elite? A lot of work to do, but not many teams in their path.

Michigan is clearly a tier below the playoff elite: Clemson-Alabama-Ohio State-LSU. It’s not easy to get there. Other teams have outperformed Michigan are closer to it right now – Oklahoma and Georgia.

        Anybody else? No.

Michigan is in the next tier with a bunch of other similarly performing programs: Florida, Auburn, PSU, Wisconsin, Oregon, Notre Dame. Others could join the mix but are struggling right now to get under firm footing like Michigan enjoys: USC, Texas, FSU.

It’s very difficult to get from excellent to elite. The competition is hardest at the top, naturally. It’s especially hard if you are trying to “do it right”. It’s especially hard if one of the elite powers are in your direct path (hey there Auburn).

Thanks to Harbaugh though, Michigan is with in striking distance. They are on firm ground. Yet they are evolving. They are not satisfied. But they are not going to back down from celebrating how far they have come either.

Would you rather be one of those other schools trying to get into the top tier? Maybe you would. I could make a case for their advantages over Michigan (geography, conference or division, ethics, etc). But Michigan has it’s own advantages. The primary ones being the size of the fanbase, historical prestige, and the overqualified alumni at head coach. I would not bet on any of them being better than Michigan in the next 5 years.

You just labeled us third-tier, along with saying 11wins is ‘unreasonable’

          You’re doing it to yourself!

Broke it down for you WJE. Can’t help those who don’t want it – or just can’t do it.

Lol, “Michigan has been a top-10 program by basically EVERY reasonable measure since Jim Harbaugh took over”
Except every reasonae offensive stat in existence, which of course, is actually very reasonable, and needed in order to win that 1or2 evasive games a year ?

    *emphasis mine

Rich Rodriguez had a top 10 offense. The thing is…
