It’s time for another look at an all-time leaders list.
Keep in mind that TFL numbers weren’t recorded prior to the mid-1990s; otherwise, you would probably see guys like Chris Hutchinson, Mike Hammerstein, and more on this list.
Naturally, it would be a long list of players to include everyone with 1 interception in a game, but I was surprised to see how many Wolverines made multiple picks in one game. According to the record books, the feat has been accomplished 59 times by 46 different players.
As I continue to delve into Michigan’s all-time leaders, here’s a look at the guys who have made the most interceptions in one season:
10 – Tom Curtis (1968)
9 – Chuck Lentz (1949)
8 – Tom Curtis (1969)
8 – Charles Woodson (1997)
7 – Tom Curtis (1967)
7 – Barry Pierson (1967)
6 – Don Lund (1944)
6 – Gene Derricotte (1946)
6 – Don Oldham (1951)
6 – Jerry Zuver (1976)
6 – Tony Jackson (1981)
6 – Ivan Hicks (1985)
6 – Ty Law (1993)
6 – Todd Howard (2000)
6 – Blake Countess (2013)
Channing Stribling has been the player to have the most interceptions in one season at Michigan under Jim Harbaugh, with 4 picks during the 2016 season.
