With National Signing Day looming in early December – and lots of recruiting movement – I wanted to catch up on some of the most recent happenings as Michigan tries to fill out its 2025 recruiting class.
QUARTERBACK
COMMIT: Belleville (MI) Belleville quarterback Bryce Underwood committed to Michigan (LINK). It seems as if Fort Myers (FL) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith at least suspected that was going to happen, and he decommitted beforehand; Smith recently committed to Wisconsin and will be a Badger instead, perhaps with eyes on getting a bit of revenge against the Wolverines down the road.
KEEP AN EYE ON: Michigan will also be looking to add a quarterback through the transfer portal, and USC transfer Miller Moss has been rumored to be a possible candidate.
JaDon Blair – S – Winston Salem (NC) Mount Tabor: Blair is a 6’4″, 190-pounder with offers from Florida State, Louisville, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Penn State, among others; he also has official visits to all five of the aforementioned schools. Blair is a 4-star, the #13 safety, and #158 overall. He plans to announce his decision on July 5, 2024, but no crystal ball predictions have been logged yet.
Shamari Earls – S – Chester (VA) Thomas Dale: Earls is a 6’2″, 180 lb. corner who has been committed to South Carolina since April; he’s taking an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor this weekend and also has offers from Alabama, Georgia, Penn State, USC, and others. Earls is a 4-star, the #11 cornerback, and #102 overall.
Hayden Bradley – TE – Buford (GA) Buford: Bradley is a 6’5″, 220 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Miami, Michigan, Oregon, and Penn State, among others. He’s currently unranked in the 247 Composite.
Avery Gach – OT – Franklin (MI) Groves: Gach is a 6’5″, 275-pounder with offers from Alabama, Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #13 interior offensive lineman, and #226 overall. Despite being a Michigan State legacy, his lone crystal ball so far is for Michigan.
Quincy Porter – WR – Oradell (NJ) Bergen Catholic: Porter is a 6’3″, 190 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Washington, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #7 wide receiver, and #52 overall in the class.

Michigan’s annual BBQ at the Big House will be taking place on July 29-30. With a lot of connections already made for the current 2024 recruiting class, the BBQ is always largely about making inroads with underclassmen. Below is a list of players expected to make it to Ann Arbor for the BBQ:
TRANSFER
Nigel Glover – LB – Northwestern: Glover is a 6’3″, 210 lb. transfer from Northwestern who decided to leave the Wildcats after head coach Pat Fitzgerald was fired. He was a 4-star, the #30 linebacker, and #335 overall in the class of 2023 and was the program’s highest rated signee. Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Pitt, Purdue, Washington, and West Virginia were some of the other Power Five programs after him out of high school, so that’s a decent offer list but not a great one.

He’s a 4-star, the #3 safety, and #76 overall. A teammate of 2025 Michigan commit Chris Ewald (see below), this is Patterson’s second unofficial visit to Ann Arbor.
