Traffic and Income Report: May 2017

Many of you visit regularly, click on ads, buy things on Amazon, contribute via Paypal, etc. Here’s how that turns up on my end.

The following data comes from May of 2017:

Page views: 282,083
This is a drop of almost 90,000 pageviews in one month. I’m not really sure of the reason, though I assume it has to do with the lull after the spring game. May is a pretty slow month for college football – very little recruiting news, no buildup to spring football, and the regular season still a few months away.

Google AdSense revenue: $428.23

Amazon Affiliates revenue: $164.56

Sovrn revenue: $138.59
This was a slight increase from the month of April, so Sovrn stayed somewhat strong despite the drop in traffic. I imagine that’s partly due to Sovrn having a chance to regulate for my content and traffic. Hopefully when traffic bumps back up, there will be a corresponding jump from Sovrn.

Paypal donations: $0.00
Paypal is still not productive unless I’m specifically asking for donations, which is fine.

TOTAL INCOME: $731.38

Traffic and Income Report: April 2017

Many of you visit regularly, click on ads, buy things on Amazon, contribute via Paypal, etc. Here’s how that turns up on my end.

The following data comes from April of 2017:

Page views: 371,241.
This is a jump of about 116,000 page views. The reason is twofold, I believe: 1. I brought on some additional contributors, including Mike Knapp and umbig11. 2) My Google ranking stopped being affected so negatively by my stupid, crappy server.

Google AdSense revenue: $476.43

Amazon Affiliates revenue: $33.26

Sovrn revenue: $134.02
I mentioned last month that Sovrn had been screwy and I had to work out some kinks, so this represents almost a 400% increase in revenue from them.

Paypal donations: $0.00
Paypal is still not productive unless I’m specifically asking for donations, which is fine.

TOTAL INCOME: $643.71

Traffic and Income Report: March 2017

A couple months ago, I mentioned that I wanted to start sharing traffic and income reports for the site. As readers and contributors, I think it’s fair to want some insight into the “inner workings” of the blog. Many of you visit regularly, click on ads, buy things on Amazon, contribute via Paypal, etc. I posted one last month, so here’s the second iteration of the series.

The following data comes from March of 2017:

Page views: 255,894.
This was still a down month for traffic, but it’s up 26,000 page views from February. I believe some technical issues were still to blame, and those technical issues were hooting my Google ranking, as well. Hopefully those rankings continue to build back up now that the site is faster and more reliable.

Google AdSense revenue: $317.35

Amazon Affiliates revenue: $17.17

Sovrn revenue: $32.37
Sovrn is a new advertising network for me, and I started messing around with it in March. It actually wasn’t very productive for me initially. When Sovrn can’t fill ads, it’s supposed to pass back ads to Google AdSense . . . but it wasn’t doing that. So a lot of my ad space went unfilled. Not only was Sovrn not performing well, but it also hurt my AdSense earnings. Since then I’ve improved its performance by making some tweaks, but March was a down month.

Paypal donations: $0.00
In February I received over $1,100 in donations for the new server, but that’s usually the only time when I get donations – when there’s something specific I need. And I’m okay with that.

TOTAL INCOME: $366.89

Traffic and Income Report: February 2017

I mentioned not long ago that I wanted to start sharing traffic and income reports for the site. As readers and contributors, I think it’s fair to want some insight into the “inner workings” of the blog. Many of you visit regularly, click on ads, buy things on Amazon, contribute via Paypal, etc. Hopefully this can become a regular report.

The following data comes from February of 2017:

Page views: 229,640.
This was a down month for traffic, despite the expected uptick in traffic from National Signing Day. Why was it so low? Well, my previous hosting service couldn’t handle the traffic – despite promises that it could – so there was a lot of down time. There were a couple days, as well as intermittent other spots, where nobody could view the site at all, including me.

Google AdSense revenue: $281.40

Amazon Affiliates revenue: $53.95

Paypal donations: $1,109.40.
I don’t get Paypal donations during most months, but this was the month when I requested (and received) funding for a new server. (See above: Page views.) Over a span of twelve days, readers ponied up over $1,100 to help for the new server, which has been working well.

TOTAL INCOME: $1,444.75
