2020

Brian Branch – WR – Tyrone (GA) Sandy Creek: Branch is a 6’0″, 180 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, and Oklahoma, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #17 safety, and #227 overall.

Maliq Carr – TE – Oak Park (MI) Oak Park: Carr is a 6’6″, 230 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #76 wide receiver, and #428 overall. His crystal ball is a mixed bag right now. While he insists he’s a wide receiver, he will probably outgrow that position in the long-term.

Jaden Dottin – WR – Suffield (CT) Suffield Academy: Dottin is a 6’3″, 185 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan, Penn State, and Pitt, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #60 wide receiver, and #316 overall. He claims a 4.88 forty, a 4.33 shuttle, and a 31.6″ vertical. His crystal ball is 100% for Penn State right now.

Ty Hamilton – DE – Pickerington (OH) Central: Hamilton is a 6’3″, 250-pounder with offers from Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, and West Virginia, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 3-star, the #39 strongside end, and #743 overall. He plays for the alma mater of former Michigan defensive end Taco Charlton.

Nightly Roundup: March 20, 2019

Wilton Speight

Wilton Speight had something to say about Pep Hamilton:

““It is what it is,” he said. “The same guy in 2016 and 2017, I didn’t change who I was. It was definitely a little bit different. That’s why I was able to get back to my ways in 2018 and let it rip.”

Speight’s version of “letting it rip” at UCLA was 60.6% completions, 7.3 YPA, 6 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. Before he got hurt in 2017, he was at 54.6%, 7.2 YPA, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Basically, the same numbers except a higher completion percentage at UCLA. Speight was bad for the final two years of his college career, and he’s attempting to throw his former coach under the bus. Add that to his whiny, woe-is-me attitude on Amazon Prime’s docuseries, and I think it’s pretty clear that he’s pretty incapable of looking at things objectively.

Former Michigan Athlete of the Week: De’Veon Smith

De’Veon Smith

Orlando Apollos running back De’Veon Smith received 9 carries for 39 yards (4.3 YPC) in the Apollos’ first loss of the season, a 22-17 defeat at the hands of the Arizona Hotshots.

HONORABLE MENTION

  • Matt Godin, DL (San Antonio Commanders): Godin made 1 tackle in a 37-6 win over the Atlanta Legends.
  • Ty Isaac, RB (Birmingham Iron): Isaac did not play in the 32-29 win over the San Diego Fleet.
  • Denard Robinson, RB (Atlanta Legends): Robinson had 3 carries for 14 yards in a 37-6 loss to the San Antonio Commanders.
  • Channing Stribling, CB (Memphis Express): Stribling made 1 tackle in a 22-9 loss to the Salt Lake Stallions. On a side note, the Express just signed Johnny Manziel, so they’re now my least favorite AAF team.
