Detroit (MI) King QB Dante Moore

2023

Dante Moore – QB – Detroit (MI) King: Moore is a 6’3″, 195 lb. prospect with offers from Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, and others. He’s a 5-star, the #3 quarterback, and #5 overall. Michigan is not really pursuing any other quarterbacks in the 2023 class, so they have all their eggs in the Moore basket, so this is an important visit for the Wolverines. Right now the crystal ball leader is Notre Dame. At this point I think this recruitment is a formality, honestly. My hunch is that this is one final hurrah for Michigan and a chance for Moore to say he gave it every chance before he goes ahead and commits to Notre Dame. Hopefully I’m wrong.

2024

Charles Lester III – CB – Sarasota (FL) Riverview: Lester is a 6’2″, 171-pounder with offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Michigan, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #4 cornerback, and #27 overall in the class of 2024.

2025

Davi Belfort – QB – Fort Lauderdale (FL) Dillard: Belfort is a 5’11”, 175 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, and Texas A&M, among others. He’s the son of UFC fighter Vitor Belfort. On his official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend, he also picked up an offer from Michigan.

Damari Brown – CB – Fort Lauderdale (FL) American Heritage: Brown is a 6’2″, 180 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, and Oklahoma, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #25 cornerback, and #231 overall. He’s the son of former Miami and NFL cornerback Selwyn Brown.

Chris Culliver – WR – Maiden (NC) Maiden: Culliver is a 6’3″, 174-pounder with offers from Florida State, North Carolina, and Ohio State, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #54 wide receiver, and #421 overall.

My’Keil Gardner – DT – Peoria (AZ) Liberty: Gardner is a 6’2″, 275 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Arizona State, USC, and Wisconsin, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #54 defensive lineman, and #410 overall.

2022 Season Countdown: #110 Peyton O’Leary

Peyton O’Leary (image via MGoBlue)

Name: Peyton O’Leary
Height:
6’4″
Weight:
190 lbs.
High school:
Byfield (MA) Governor’s Academy
Position:
Wide receiver
Class:
Redshirt freshman
Jersey number:
#38
Last year:
I ranked O’Leary #124 and said he would redshirt (LINK). He played in one game.
TTB Rating:
N/A

I was very impressed with O’Leary when he came out of high school. As a preferred walk-on, he is/was unlikely to every make a huge impact, but he’s one of the more impressive wide receiver athletes I’ve seen come to Michigan as a walk-on. Right now Michigan’s wide receiver room is stacked, but if some injuries or blowouts happen, I could see him making a little bit of a name for himself and carving out a role.

Prediction: Backup wide receiver

2022 Season Countdown: #111 Evan Boutorwick

Evan Boutorwick (image via Twitter)

Name: Evan Boutorwick
Height:
6’4″
Weight:
225 lbs.
High school:
Sterling Heights (MI) Henry Ford II
Position:
Long snapper
Class:
Freshman
Jersey number:
N/A
Last year:
Boutorwick was a senior in high school.
TTB Rating:
N/A

Boutorwick is a preferred walk-on long snapper who was chosen for the Under Armour All-American Game, which I imagine is a pretty big deal. I mean, it’s certainly a big deal for him to be a UA All-American, but Boutorwick is a long snapper and I have no ability to judge long snappers. Kornblue Kicking has him as the #11 long snapper in the class of 2022, which is a 4-star to them . . . and sounds good . . . except a 4-star to Kornblue means they peg him as an FCS or Division II player. But Under Armour chose him as one of its two long snappers.

So I have no clue, but I hope he’s good. Regardless, William Wagner returns as Michigan’s starting long snapper, and he’s backed up by Greg Tarr, who might be good but who knows because he was a 5-star but hasn’t played in two seasons on the roster. My totally unfounded and pointless hope is that Michigan does not need its third-string long snapper at any point in 2022.

Insert a shrug gif here.

Prediction: Redshirt
