Thompson’s Station (TN) Independence WR Nate Johnson

Thompson’s Station (TN) Independence wide receiver Nate Johnson committed to Michigan on Saturday during an official visit to Ann Arbor. Johnson is 5’11”, 175 lbs. and claims a 4.47 forty. He also claims a 4.05 shuttle. As a senior in 2015, he caught 87 passes for 1,713 yards and 27 touchdowns. When he was a junior in 2014, he caught 62 passes for 1,290 yards and 17 scores.

Mesquite (TX) North OT Jean Delance

Jean Delance – OT – Mesquite (TX) North: Delance is a 6’5″, 291 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M, among others. He’s a 247 Composite 4-star, the #11 offensive tackle, and #92 overall. An Under Armour All-American, this is thought to be a three-horse race between Michigan, Oklahoma, and Texas with the Wolverines playing a little from behind. Delance is essentially the only offensive tackle left on Michigan’s board, so if they want a true tackle in the 2016 class, they may need to expand their board if Delance goes elsewhere. This official visit was rescheduled from Ohio State week.

Jordan Elliott – DT – Houston (TX) Westside: Elliott committed to Michigan on the weekend of the Ohio State game (LINK).

Chris Evans – RB – Indianapolis (IN) Ben Davis: Evans committed to Michigan in June (LINK).

David Reese, Ex-Wolverine

Farmington (MI) Farmington linebacker David Reese decommitted from Michigan on Wednesday night. He had committed to Michigan on the day of the spring game back in April (LINK).

Anyone with a finger on the pulse of Reese’s recruitment saw this moment coming months ago. Reese originally committed with Michigan’s understanding that he would get his first shot to play fullback, but that he would also be looked at as a linebacker. As more offers for linebacker started to come through, Reese started to reconsider and wanted assurances from Michigan that he could be a linebacker through and through. Meanwhile, he was also looking to enroll early. Michigan informed Reese that he could play linebacker, but that they were keeping early enrollee spots open for other prospects. In other words, they said that if he wanted to play for Michigan, he would have to wait until next summer to enroll.

Hit the jump for more on Reese, as well as some analysis of the linebacker recruiting situation.
