2025 Defensive Recruiting Update: December 3, 2024

With National Signing Day looming in a couple days – and lots of recruiting movement – I wanted to catch up on some of the most recent happenings as Michigan tries to fill out its 2025 recruiting class. If you want a look at offensive recruiting, check it out HERE.

EDGE

COMMIT: Michigan gained the re-commitment of Oak Park (IL) Fenwick defensive end Nathaniel Marshall (LINK) earlier today. There has been some talk that Alpharetta (GA) Alpharetta edge Julius Holly might flip elsewhere, but as of this writing, he’s still committed to the Wolverines.

KEEP AN EYE ON: Indianapolis (IN) Warren Central’s Damien Shanklin was reportedly contacted once Bryce Underwood went public with his flip from LSU to Michigan, but Shanklin has since said he’s solid with LSU. Michigan threw out an offer to Warner Robins (GA) Warner Robins edge Isaiah Gibson, a top-10 player and Georgia commit who surprisingly didn’t have an offer from the Wolverines until the last couple weeks. Michigan has also stepped up its pursuit of Houston (TX) Mayde Creek edge Tobi Haastrup, a raw prospect who has taken official visits to Florida State, Michigan, Oregon, Texas Tech, and USC during the month of November. Ohio State decommit Zahir Mathis from Philadelphia (PA) Imhotep has also been contacted since he backed off his pledge to Ryan Day.

Kamar Archie – LB – Princeton (NJ) Hun School: Archie is a 6’1″, 225 lb. prospect with this official to Michigan. He also officially visited Clemson and Rutgers. Archie is a 4-star, the #32 linebacker, and #280 overall.

Jamauri Brice – WR – Cartersville (GA) Cartersville: Brice is a 5’9″, 187 lb. prospect who’s listed on 247 Sports as a 3-star, the #70 athlete, and #896 overall. Brice is committed to Georgia Tech.

Avery Gach – OT – Wylie (MI) Groves: Gach is committed to Michigan (LINK).

Kamar Archie – LB – Princeton (NJ) The Hun School: Archie is a 6’1″, 215 lb. prospect with offers from Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Texas A&M, and USC, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #25 linebacker, and #193 overall.

Kole Briehler – DT – Princeton (NJ) The Hun School: Briehler is a 6’3″, 250-pounder with offers from Florida, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, and USC, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #42 defensive lineman, and #448 overall. He’s a teammate of Archie (see above).

Rowan Byrne – OT – New Rochelle (NY) Iona Prep: Byrne is a 6’6″, 297-pounder with offers from Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #24 offensive tackle, and #264 overall.

Kamren Flowers – WR – West Bloomfield (MI) West Bloomfield: Flowers is a 5’11”, 170 lb. prospect with offers from Miami, Penn State, Rutgers, and Wisconsin, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #37 wide receiver, and #308 overall. Michigan has yet to offer.

Alex Graham – S – Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy: Graham is a 6’1″, 186 lb. athlete with offers from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and USC, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #14 cornerback, and #99 overall. He transferred to IMG from Detroit (MI) Cass Tech.

Josh Williams – OG – Haverford (PA) Haverford: Williams is a 6’5″, 300 lb. prospect with offers from Kentucky, Michigan, Penn State, and Pitt, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #27 interior offensive lineman, and #439 overall in the class.
