Ex-Wolverine Updates: 2017, Week 2

Shane Morris

NOTE: This isn’t really related to anything, but we’ve had the #1, #3, and #7 most comments ever on the site on three different posts in the last week-and-a-half. It’s great. Thanks for reading and participating!

TRANSFERS

Independence C.C. RB Kingston Davis: Davis had 7 carries for 22 yards in a 27-23 win over Garden City Community College.

Rutgers LB Ross Douglas: Douglas made 7 tackles in a 16-13 loss to Eastern Michigan. Yes, Rutgers lost to EMU.

Central Michigan QB Shane Morris: Morris completed 28/37 passes (75.7%) for 467 yards and 5 touchdowns; he also ran 8 times for 32 yards in a 45-27 win over Kansas. This was easily the best game of his career and, frankly, quite a surprise.

FORMER COMMITMENTS

Boston College RB A.J. Dillon: Dillon ran 15 times for 43 yards in a 34-10 loss to Wake Forest.

Illinois LB Dele’ Harding: Harding made 2 tackles in Illinois’ 20-7 win over Western Kentucky.

Alabama RB Damien Harris: Harris ran 6 times for 32 yards and caught 1 pass for -7 yards in a 41-10 win over Fresno State.

Eastern Illinois LB Dytarious Johnson: Johnson has made 10 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in two games this season.

Maryland CB Antwaine Richardson: Richardson made 2 tackles in a 63-17 win over Towson. This comes a week after he was carted off the field with fears of a spinal injury, so it’s good to know he’s healthy.

North Carolina State DT Darian Roseboro: Roseboro made 1 tackle in a 37-20 win over Marshall.

Penn State S Garrett Taylor: Taylor made 2 tackles in a 33-14 win over Pitt.

Pittsburgh DE Rashad Weaver: Weaver made 1 tackle in a 33-14 loss to Penn State.

FORMER COACHES

Maryland head coach D.J. Durkin: Durkin’s Terrapins won against cupcake Towson, 63-17. They’re 2-0 this season.

Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez: The Wildcats lost to Houston at home, 19-16. They’re 1-1 this year.

TRANSFERS

OG Kyle Bosch: Bosch is expected to start at offensive guard for West Virginia. He’s currently ranked as the #11 offensive guard in the 2018 draft class by NFL Draft Scout.

WR/S Brian Cole: Cole spent the 2016 season at East Mississippi Community College, the school that’s the subject of the Netflix docuseries Last Chance U. Cole isn’t featured prominently, though he makes a couple cameos. Anyway, he made 54 tackles, 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries at safety. He enrolled at Mississippi State in January but he will have to redshirt this year to get in compliance with academic requirements.

RB Kingston Davis: Davis ran 2 times for 17 yards against Hawaii in last year’s season opener, and now he’s transferring to Independence Community College in Kansas. The assumption is that he’ll try to transfer back up to an FBS program in 2018.

Ex-Wolverine Updates: Post-2016 Recap

Kyle Bosch (#62, image via Scout)

Former OG Kyle Bosch: Bosch made 1 tackle this year, but more importantly, he started all 13 games at West Virginia and was named Second Team All-Big 12.

Former DE commit Pharaoh Brown: After missing all of 2015 while recovering from a nasty knee injury, Brown was Oregon’s starting tight end and made 33 catches for 426 yards (12.9 yards/catch) and 5 touchdowns. However, he got in some legal trouble and missed the final two games of the season. His college career is complete.

Former WR commit George Campbell: Campbell redshirted during his second year at Florida State due to injury. He will be a redshirt sophomore this coming fall.

Ex-Wolverine Updates: Week 10

Former CB commit Gareon Conley: Conley made 1 tackle and 1 pass breakup in Ohio State’s 62-3 win over Nebraska.

Former defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin: In case you weren’t paying attention, the new Maryland coach suffered a 59-3 defeat at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines. Maryland is 5-4 with games remaining against Ohio State, Nebraska, and then Rutgers. It looks like it will come down to that final week to see if Maryland will be bowl eligible.

Former RB Derrick Green: Green made 5 carries for 33 yards in TCU’s awesome 62-22 win over a Baylor team that wore black uniforms to protest the firing of Art Briles, who turned a blind eye toward all the disgusting shenanigans that took place in Waco. I typically don’t care about Baylor or TCU, but I sure am glad Baylor got their butts handed to them.
