DECOMMITS

Tim Baldwin, RB (undecided): Ashburn (VA) Broad Run’s Tim Baldwin is still undecided on where he will play college football, and he has no 247 Sports crystal ball picks in, either.

Kalil Branham, WR (Kentucky): Columbus (OH) Northland wideout Branham is headed to Kentucky.

George Campbell, WR (West Virginia): Campbell announced that he was transferring out of Florida State, and the rumor was that he was headed to Penn State. However, he is now on WVU’s roster and listed as a 6’4″, 184 lb. redshirt senior.

Denver Warren, Ex-Wolverine

Aurora (IL) West defensive tackle Denver Warren, a 2020 prospect, decommitted from Michigan on Monday morning. Warren has offers from much of the Big Ten (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin, etc.) and 14 offers total, so he will find a landing spot. He’s a 4-star, the #24 defensive tackle, and #257 overall.

Warren committed to Michigan back in July (LINK), but he tweeted out on Monday morning that Michigan doesn’t have enough scholarship spots for defensive linemen in the 2020 class. I find that statement to be somewhat questionable, because I doubt the coaching staff knows with 100% certainty who will be playing defensive line for them in 2020. Players get hurt, players transfer, players get in trouble, players leave early for the NFL, etc. It will be interesting to see whether Michigan adds any defensive linemen (particularly defensive tackles) to the 2020 class between now and February of 2020.

Michigan is down to five commitments in the 2020 class: RB Tim Baldwin, WR Kalil Branham, TE Nick Patterson, LB Cornell Wheeler, and CB Andre Seldon.

2019

Karsen Barnhart – OT – Paw Paw (MI) Paw Paw: Barnhart is committed to Michigan (LINK).

Zach Carpenter – OG – Cincinnati (OH) Moeller: Carpenter is committed to Michigan (LINK).

Luke Elzinga – P – Grand Rapids (MI) Christian: Elzinga is a 6’4″, 195-pounder who’s ranked as the #8 punter in the country, according to Brandon Kornblue.

Dax Hill – S – Tulsa (OK) Booker T. Washington: Hill is a 6’0″, 186 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State, among others. He’s a 5-star, the #1 safety, and #12 overall. The crystal balls on 247 Sports are 50% in favor of Alabama, 25% for Oklahoma, and 19% for Michigan, but recent news suggests it’s a battle between Alabama and Michigan. This is his official visit, and he officially visited Alabama back in June.

2019

John Branham, Jr. – RB – Columbus (OH) Northland: Branham is a 5’10”, 218 lb. prospect with offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, and Pitt, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #55 running back, and #842 overall. He’s the older brother of 2020 Michigan commit Kalil Branham.

Jaylen Ellis – WR – Round Rock (TX) Cedar Ridge: Ellis is a 6’0″, 170 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan, Ohio State, and Oregon, among others; he has been committed to Baylor since June of 2017, but he seems unlikely to stick with the Golden Bears. This is his official visit.
