Former Michigan Athlete of the Week: Aidan Hutchinson

Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson made 2 tackles in a 15-9 win over the Green Bay Packers, but his biggest play was an interception of Aaron Rodgers at the goal line, preventing a touchdown pass to eligible tackle David Bakhtiari.

  • Tom Brady, QB (Tampa Bay Buccaneers): Brady completed 36/58 passes for 280 yards and 1 touchdown in a 16-13 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
  • Hassan Haskins, RB (Tennessee Titans): Haskins had 1 carry for 5 yards, 1 catch for 2 yards, 4 kickoff returns for 72 yards, and 4 tackles on special teams in a 20-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
  • Kwity Paye, DE (Indianapolis Colts): Paye made 8 tackles, 1 sack, and 5 quarterback hurries in a 26-3 loss to the New England Patriots.
  • Josh Uche, OLB (New England Patriots): Uche made 6 tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 quarterback hurries in a 26-3 win over the Colts.

MISCELLANEY

  • Green Bay Packers OLB Rashan Gary tore his ACL against the Lions and will miss the remainder of the season. He made 32 tackles and 6 sacks this season before the injury.

Former Michigan Athlete of the Week: Nico Collins

There were no real standouts this week – nobody from Michigan scored a touchdown or had significant yardage or interceptions or even tackle numbers. So here’s a nod to Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins, who caught 4 passes for 65 yards in a 13-6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Collins played at Michigan from 2017-2019 and opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID concerns. He caught 78 passes for 1,388 yards and 13 touchdowns during his career in Ann Arbor.

  • Frank Clark, DE (Kansas City Chiefs): Clark made 4 tackles in a 24-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Philadelphia Eagles outside linebacker/defensive end Brandon Graham had an outstanding day on Sunday when he made 6 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 1 pass breakup in a 24-8 win over the Washington Commanders. He was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.

Former Michigan Athlete of the Week: Channing Stribling

The USFL started its regular season this past weekend, and there are some noteworthy items for former Wolverines.

Former Michigan cornerback Channing Stribling, playing for the Philadelphia Stars, made 2 tackles, 1 interception (returned for 32 yards), and a league-leading 3 pass breakups in a 23-17 loss to the New Orleans Breakers.

OTHERS OF NOTE

  • QB Shea Patterson (Michigan Panthers): Patterson completed 17/25 passes (68.0%) for 192 yards, 1 touchdown, and 0 interceptions in a 17-12 loss. However, he was sacked 3 times and fumbled 2 times in his first game action since playing at Michigan in 2019; one of the fumbles was returned for a touchdown.
