TRANSFER PORTAL

Brice Pollock – CB – Mississippi State: Pollock is a 6’1″, 190 lb. corner who has played 22 games over his first two years in college. (He played alongside former Michigan safety Jordan Morant.) He made 48 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 interception, and 9 pass breakups as a sophomore in 2024. He was a 3-star, the #48 cornerback, and #467 overall. Despite bringing in a great defensive back class in 2025, Michigan needs to replace a couple starter-level players in Aamir Hall (graduation) and Will Johnson (likely leaving for NFL). UPDATE: Pollock’s visit plans seem to have fallen through.

Tevis Metcalf – S – Arkansas: Metcalf was a 5’10”, 192 lb. freshman this past season and made 1 tackle while playing in twelve games for the Razorbacks.

T.J. Metcalf – S – Arkansas: The other Metcalf is a 6’1″, 200 lb. rising junior who made 57 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 3 interceptions, and 7 pass breakups as a starting safety this past season. He was a 3-star, the #51 safety, and #541 overall in the class of 2023, when Michigan also recruited him.

Keeshawn Silver – DT – Kentucky: Silver is a 6’4″, 336 lb. nose tackle who spent two seasons at North Carolina before transferring to Kentucky. He was offered by Michigan out of high school. The 2022 season was his redshirt year and then he made 3 tackles while playing in three games in 2023. He made 26 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 sack, and 1 pass breakup this past season for the Wildcats and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Josh Thompson – OT – Northwestern: Thompson is expected to visit Michigan on Monday, December 16. The fifth year transfer from Fenton (MI) Fenton was a 3-star and the #1283 player in the class of 2021, garnering mostly MAC offers and then the Northwestern offer that he accepted. He started ten games at right guard this past season and started eleven games at right tackle in 2023. He garnered a PFF grade of 74.9 as a guard in 2024.

Jordan White – C – Liberty: White is a 6’2″, 300 lb. interior lineman who was on the Rimington and Outland watch lists prior to the 2024 season. He originally signed with WVU in 2020 and sat on the sideline for most of 2020 and 2021 before starting three games in 2022; he then transferred to Liberty, where he posted a grade of 72.1 starting every game at center in 2023, and then started at left guard in 2024, earning an 82.2 grade from PFF. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

2026

Jackson Cantwell – OT – Nixa (MO) Nixa: Cantwell is a 6’7″, 300-pounder who is the #1 overall prospect for his class. He has offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Missouri, and Oregon, among others.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2021

Greg Crippen – OG – Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy: Crippen decommitted from Notre Dame; he’s a 4-star, the #11 offensive guard, and #221 overall. Sam Webb immediately put in a Crystal Ball for him to go to Michigan. His decommitment from Notre Dame had been expected for months with Michigan the supposed front-runner to flip him.

Jantzen Dunn – CB – Bowling Green (KY) South Warren: Dunn is a 6’2″, 178-pounder with offers from Miami, Ohio State, and Oklahoma, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #22 athlete, and #316 overall.

Jack Pugh – TE – Hilliard (OH) Bradley: Pugh is a 6’5″, 235 lb. prospect with offers from Iowa State, Penn State, and Wisconsin, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #13 tight end, and #313 overall. He visited Michigan this past weekend and was offered on the trip.

2021 Recruiting Update: Defense

John Howse IV (image via 247 Sports)

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2021

Marcus Bradley – DT – Gaithersburg (MD) Quince Orchard: Bradley is a 6’3″, 270 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Maryland, Ohio State, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #10 defensive tackle, and #173 overall. I think I heard something about how Michigan needs defensive tackles…

Duce Chestnut – CB – Camden (NJ) Camden: Chestnut is a 5’11”, 180 lb. prospect with offers from Maryland, Miami, and Rutgers. He’s a 4-star, the #17 cornerback, and #216 overall. He comes from the same program that Cesar Ruiz and Brad Hawkins attended, although both of them transferred elsewhere prior to finishing their high school careers.

Alijah Clark – CB – Camden (NJ) Camden: Clark is a 6’2″, 180-pounder with offers from Maryland and Rutgers. He’s a 3-star, the #35 cornerback, and #478 overall. It must be pretty nice to have two corners who are good enough for such big-time offers.

Nyland Green – CB – Covington (GA) Newton: Green is a 6’1″, 174 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Clemson, and Tennessee, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #18 corner, and #225 overall. He attends the alma mater of former Michigan running back Kurt Taylor.

John Howse IV – S – Brentwood (TN) Brentwood: Howse visited Michigan for the BBQ at the Big House this past summer. He’s a 6’2″, 185 lb. prospect with offers from Kentucky, Louisville, and Penn State, among others. He’s a 3-star, the #89 athlete, and #893 overall. He’s a very physical player who plays corner but I think he projects to safety at the next level.

Jabari Ishmael – DE – Miami (FL) Columbus: Ishmael is a 6’5″, 210-pounder with offers from Florida and Miami, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #6 weakside end, and #118 overall. He goes to the same school that Michigan linebacker Joshua Uche attended.

Dontavius Nash – S – Gastonia (NC) Hunter Huss: Nash is a 6’2″, 170 lb. prospect who committed to UNC in June 2019, but he has a lot better offers, such as Auburn, Georgia, and Penn State. He’s a 4-star, the #8 safety, and #250 overall.

Andre Turrentine – CB – Nashville (TN) Ensworth: Turrentine is a 6’0″, 175-pounder with offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #15 cornerback, and #194 overall.
