Michigan’s Top Seven 2023 NFL Draft Prospects

The following players (listed in alphabetical order) are Michigan’s best bets, in my opinion, to be drafted in 2023. Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan teams have produced 6.3 NFL draft picks per class during his tenure, so it’s a good bet that Michigan gets around this number of players to be selected.

TE Erick All
Senior Erick All was reportedly considering leaving the NFL after the 2021 season, but he decided to return. After a 2020 season in which he struggled with drops, he turned into a reliable target with 38 catches (second on the team) for 437 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a game-winning catch-and-run against Penn State. All is a solid blocker with good speed and run-after-catch ability, and he has a lithe 6’4″, 245 lb. frame. He probably won’t be first round material, but he could be a day two or three pick.

2022 Spring Roster Notes

Will Johnson (image via Twitter)

Even though jersey numbers don’t matter much – there is plenty of time for them to change – it’s always interesting to see what jerseys the freshmen wear. Here’s a rundown of the newcomers:

  • #0: WR Darrius Clemons
  • #2: CB Will Johnson (I saw a rumor that he switched to #4, but #2 is on the roster)
  • #3: S Keon Sabb
  • #4: WR Amorion Walker
  • #8: DE Derrick Moore
  • #10: QB Alex Orji
  • #12: S Kody Jones
  • #13: WR Tyler Morris
  • #16: QB Jayden Denegal
  • #24: CB Myles Pollard
  • #55: DT Mason Graham
  • #55: C Olu Oluwatimi
  • #60: OL Connor Jones

On another note, Eamonn Dennis has officially switched from cornerback to wide receiver on the roster. Meanwhile, Mike Sainristil is still listed at wide receiver even though he’s getting practice reps at nickel corner.

Olu Oluwatimi, Wolverine

Olu Oluwatimi (image via On3)

Virginia transfer center Olu Oluwatimi committed to Michigan via Twitter on December 27:

A product of Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha, Oluwatimi was a 6’4″, 275 lb. prospect in high school who signed with Air Force in 2017. At the time he was a 2-star, the #160 offensive guard, and #3300 overall. After spending a year in Colorado, he transferred to Virginia and sat out the 2018 season due to transfer rules. He missed his first possible game in 2019 due to a hand injury, and then he would go on to start the next 32 games for the Cavaliers. In the 2021 season, he was named a Rimington finalist as one of the top three centers in the country.

Class of 2022: Early National Signing Day Preview

Keon Sabb (image via On3)

With the early signing day approaching tomorrow, December 15, it certainly seems like things have gone wacky. Gone are the days when teams lost and hired new coaches around the New Year, giving those staffs five or six weeks to come together and sign players in early February. Welcome to the days of coaches being fired or jumping ship so the school can have someone in place to try to salvage recruiting classes for mid-December. I won’t say it’s an unforeseen problem – plenty of us talked about it – but it has put fans, players, coaches, and schools in positions we’ve never seen.

Here’s a list of current Michigan commits:

  • QB Jayden Denegal (early enrollee)
  • RB C.J. Stokes
  • WR Tyler Morris (early enrollee)
  • TE Marlin Klein
  • TE Colston Loveland (early enrollee)
  • OL Andrew Gentry (transfer from Virginia)
  • OL Connor Jones
  • OL Alessandro Lorenzetti
  • DT Mason Graham (early enrollee)
  • DT Kenneth Grant
  • DE Ethan Burke
  • DE Kevonte Henry
  • LB Aaron Alexander (early enrollee)
  • LB Micah Pollard
  • LB Jimmy Rolder
  • LB Deuce Spurlock
  • CB Will Johnson (early enrollee)
  • CB Myles Pollard (early enrollee)
  • S Zeke Berry
  • S Damani Dent
  • S Kody Jones (early enrollee)
