Recruiting Snapshot: Penn State

Pittsburgh (PA) Woodland Hills RB Miles Sanders

2016 Team Ranking: #9. Penn State has ten 4-stars and eight 3-stars committed.

Cream of the 2016 Crop: Reading (PA) Exeter OT Michael Menet (6’5″, 273 lbs.) is a 4-star, the #4 OT, and #32 overall. He spurned offers from powerhouses like Alabama, Auburn, and Ohio State to choose the home-state Nittany Lions. Pittsburgh (PA) Woodland Hills RB Miles Sanders (see below; 4-star, #2 RB, #40 overall) is a 5’11”, 199 lb. speedster with a little bit of power and some big-time offers. Both Menet and Sanders are Under Armour All-Americans. Meanwhile, the 6’4″, 221 lb. Shane Simmons (4-star, #4 WDE, #67 overall) could help Penn State continue their trend of excelling in the pass rush. The Nittany Lions also have the #1 kicker, the #2 punter, and the #3 center committed.

Recruiting Snapshot: Ohio State

Demario McCall

2016 Team Ranking: #1. They have two 5-stars, twelve 4-stars, and four 3-stars committed.

Cream of the 2016 Crop: Fort Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas defensive end Nick Bosa, the brother of OSU junior end Joey Bosa, is a 5-star, the #1 strongside end, and #6 overall. He’s 6’4″, 265 lbs. and plays a lot like his brother.  Staying in the pass rush department, the Buckeyes have a 5-star commitment in Columbus (OH) Gahanna Lincoln defensive end Jonathan Cooper, who is the #2 weakside end and #25 overall. I also really like the speedy Demario McCall, who is the #2 all-purpose back and #49 overall. The Buckeyes lost 3-star QB Tristen Wallace to Oregon this past weekend, but they might be picking up the services of Potomac (MD) Bullis’s Dwayne Haskins, a Maryland commit who took an official to Columbus a few days ago. Haskins is the #6 pro-style QB and #67 overall.

Recruiting Snapshot: Northwestern

2016 Team Ranking: #48. Northwestern has verbals from eighteen 3-stars and one 2-star.

Cream of the 2016 Crop: The only top-600 player committed to Northwestern is St. Louis (MO) Chaminade cornerback Roderick Campbell, who checks in at #498 in the 247 Composite. Campbell is a 5’11”, 180 lb., tough corner who’s not overly athletic, but he fits in well with what Northwestern has been doing defensively. Fort Wayne (IN) Carroll quarterback Aidan Smith is the #25 pro-style QB, but he’s not a statue. He can run a little bit, but arm strength is a question (video below). The only Wildcats commit offered by Michigan is 6’5″, 270 lb. offensive guard Cameron Kolwich from Orchard Lake (MI) St. Mary’s.

2017 Team Ranking: N/A

Cream of the 2017 Crop: Northwestern has zero commitments in the 2017 class.
