Preview of 2022 In-State Recruiting: #1-5

If you read this site or are into Michigan recruiting, you probably know the names at the top of this in-state list. Michigan has been pursuing all of these players for a while, and chances are good that the Wolverines land at least a couple of them, if not more.

1. Will Johnson – CB – Grosse Pointe (MI) South
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 190 lbs.
Notable offers: Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC
Commitment: Uncommitted
247 Composite: 5-star, #4 CB, #8 overall
Analysis: Johnson is a cornerback who overwhelms fellow high schoolers with his size and strength. He plays corner, wide receiver, and wildcat quarterback for his high school team. He’s the son of former Michigan defensive back Deon Johnson, who played for the Wolverines in the early 1990s. Even so, he’s not guarantee to sign with Michigan. He also has interest in Ohio State and USC, and he and Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei cornerback Domani Jackson – who is also high on Michigan – say they’re a package deal.

Visitors: Michigan vs. Wisconsin

I haven’t posted a visitors list in a long time, because visitors haven’t been allowed to visit Michigan since last winter. And they’re still not allowed to visit campus, at least not while having any contact with the coaching staff.

But there is a group of recruits who plan to come to Ann Arbor and hang out together on their own.

Initial Top 247 for 2022

I’ve stopped doing these because recruiting sites started updating their recruiting rankings so much, but with the arrival of brand new 2022 rankings, I thought I would take a look at this initially. You’re probably not paying a ton of attention to 2022 recruits yet, but it will be here before we know it.

The BBQ at the Big House will take place on July 27. With so many 2020 commitments right now, this probably won’t be a big weekend for the current class, but more for the rising juniors in the 2021 class.

2022 Recruiting Update: March 6, 2019

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2022

Raleek Brown – RB – Stockton (CA) Edison: Brown is a 5’9″, 165 lb. prospect with offers from Florida State, Oklahoma State, and Tennessee, among others. He claims a 4.61 forty, a 4.47 shuttle, and a 30.5″ vertical. There have been reports of him attending three different high schools – in two different states – so he might end up being one of “those guys” who goes all over the place.
