Stewart enters his third year on campus having yet to see the field. When he entered school in 2019, he was considered to be an offensive tackle or offensive guard. After two years of not seeing the field – and being passed by classmates – this spring he moved to the defensive line. It’s rare that a guy switches sides of the ball and finds success, much less immediately. Michigan does need bulk on the defensive line, which Stewart has at 318 pounds; but I don’t think he has the athleticism to be very effective on defense. He’s likely looking at another year spent mostly on the bench, though perhaps he can play on the extra points/field goal unit.
