Self-Indulgent Post of the Week: What happened to Team Coco?

What am I watching? I’m watching You on Netflix. A friend recommended the show to me, comparing it to Dexter, one of my all-time favorite shows (and a pretty good book series). You is about a book store manager named Joe who has some . . . questionable qualities but is in love with a girl named Becks in New York City. It’s based on a book by Caroline Kepnes called You.

What am I googling? I’ve been looking up what happened to Conan. I used to be a huge fan of whatever show Conan O’Brien was hosting at any given time, but then life caught up with me, I couldn’t stay up late, and I couldn’t always watch it on demand. I had a random urge to watch it this week, and I found out that it went off the air back in October for a few months. Now it’s back in a 30-minute format, which (surprise!) is shorter than its old 60-minute format.

What am I looking forward to? I heard this week about a Sopranos prequel movie called The Many Saints of Newark. There have been rumors about prequels and sequels for several years, but now some concrete plans are in the works. Michael Gandolfini, the son of James Gandolfini (who played Tony Soprano), will be playing the younger version of Tony.

What about you guys? What are you watching, googling, and looking forward to?

2020

Bryce Austin – DT – Southfield (MI) Southfield: Austin is a 6’2″, 260-pounder with offers from Michigan State, Missouri, and Pitt, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 3-star, the #22 defensive tackle, and #315 overall.

Michael Carmody – OT – Mars (PA) Mars Area: Carmody is a 6’5″, 285 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan, Penn State, and Virginia Tech, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #25 offensive tackle, and #196 overall. All five crystal ball picks so far are for Penn State.

Cal Haladay – LB – Catawissa (PA) Southern Columbia: Haladay is a 6’0″, 197 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan and UMass.

A.J. Henning – WR – Frankfort (IL) Lincoln-Way East: Henning is a 5’10”, 175 lb. prospect with offers from LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #8 wide receiver, and #51 overall, and 247 Sports has him at #25 overall, which is 5-star territory. His crystal ball is 83% for Notre Dame and 17% for OSU, but Henning recently named Michigan to his top 10.

Jakob James – OT – Cincinnati (OH) Elder: James is a 6’5″, 275 lb. prospect with offers from Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, and others. He’s a 247 Sports 3-star, the #68 offensive tackle, and #625 overall. UPDATE: James committed to Ohio State earlier this week, so I would not expect him to show up for his planned visit to Ann Arbor.

Theo Johnson – TE – Windsor (Ontario) Holy Names: Johnson is a 6’5″, 235-pounder with offers from Boston College, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Penn State, and others. He’s a 3-star, the #11 tight end, and #452 overall. Both crystal ball picks for him so far are for Penn State.

Nightly Roundup: January 22, 2019

SITE NEWS: In the wake of ridding the site of the nightly dose of good looking ladies, I have some (bad?) news to report. The effect on the blog has not been great, reducing my daily site traffic by approximately 20% to 30%. Not only were those posts visited frequently on a daily basis, but deleting the backlog of those posts takes away a huge chunk of material that used to show up on Google image and content searches. Naturally, 20% fewer visits means about 20% less in ad revenue. There’s not much that can be done – 80% of what I used to make is better than the 0% I would get from AdSense if they cut me out completely – but it’s still a hit to the bottom line.

Karan Higdon talked to the media about his decision to skip the Peach Bowl (LINK). This quote stuck out to me:

“They’ve known that I have given everything that I had to this program, and put everything I had into this past season,” Higdon said. “I’ve done everything they could ask of me, plus more.

I don’t agree with that at all. They literally asked him to play in the Peach Bowl – which he acknowledges – and he didn’t do it.
