2018 Season Countdown: #99 Greg Robinson

Guess which one of these guys plays for Michigan now. (image via Scouting Ohio)

Name: Greg Robinson
Height: 6’6″
Weight: 290 lbs.
High school: Hudson (OH) Hudson
Position: Offensive tackle
Class: Redshirt sophomore
Jersey number: #79
Last year: I did not rank Robinson. He did not see game action.

I have no inside info that Robinson will be a contributor to the team, and at #99, that’s not the expectation, anyway. But by golly, a 6’6″, 290-pounder to throw out there on the scout team offensive line ought to be worth something.

Prediction: Backup offensive tackle

P.S. He’s the big guy in the foreground.

2019

Mahdi Hazime – OG – Dearborn (MI) Fordson: Hazime is a 6’3″, 290 lb. prospect with offers from Morehead State and Morgan State.

2020

Justin Rogers – OG – Oak Park (MI) Oak Park: Rogers is a 6’4″, 280 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, and a bunch of others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #1 offensive guard, and #13 overall. Michigan was a little late offering him (compared to other schools, anyway), and the Wolverines appear to be playing from behind. There are 13 crystal ball picks in right now, and they’re all for OSU. Rogers is visiting on Tuesday, May 29.

2018 Season Countdown: #100 Jameson Offerdahl

Jameson Offerdahl (#56, image via MLive)

Name: Jameson Offerdahl
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 214 lbs.
High school: Fort Lauderdale (FL) Cardinal Gibbons
Position: Linebacker
Class: Redshirt junior
Jersey number: #56
Last year: I did not rank Offerdahl. He played in one game.

Offerdahl was a guy whose film I liked coming out of high school, and he has turned in some solid practice performances the past couple years. He was Scout Team Special Teams Player of the Week twice in 2016, and he was Scout Team Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. For that reason alone, I might have him a little underrated here at #100 overall. Good scout team players are valuable. The reason I can’t place him higher on the list is that Don Brown doesn’t bother going very deep in his linebacker rotation, and there are a handful of guys ahead of Offerdahl. Offerdahl might be getting off-season hype like the days of Kevin Leach and Mark Moundros, except there’s so much other talent available on the roster that Michigan doesn’t need a Kevin Leach this season. Offerdahl has taken incremental steps forward each season, and since he played against Ohio State, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the coaching staff looked to him to play more special teams in 2018.

Prediction: Backup linebacker, special teamer
