The State of Michigan Pay Sites

Sam Webb 914x

This was the first Google image result for “Sam Webb.” Let’s roll with it. (image via Wikipedia)

UPDATE: I have placed a poll on the right sidebar asking for your opinion on the pay sites.

Yesterday, it was announced that Tim Sullivan would be leaving The Wolverine to “pursue other opportunities.” Just a few days ago, it was confirmed that fellow Wolverine.com contributor Michael Spath – who had worked for the site for 15 years – was also leaving. That leaves editor John Borton and writers Chris Balas and Brandon Brown. Borton put a post up on The Fort – which is Michigan’s premium message board on Rivals – thanking Sullivan and Spath for their service, and then advertising the openings, asking for new applicants. While it had appeared for a couple weeks that Spath was moving on to bigger and better things, he has since intimated on Twitter that the departure was not his choice.

Goodbye, Joe Bolden

Joe Bolden 905x

Joe Bolden (#35, image via Michigan Daily)

HIGH SCHOOL
Bolden went to Cincinnati (OH) Colerain and committed to Michigan in April of 2011 (LINK). I initially gave him a TTB Rating of 77 before bumping him up to an 88 (LINK) after hype started to build following the Under Armour All-American Game.

COLLEGE
Bolden showed promise as a true freshman backup linebacker, when he made 31 tackles, 4 TFLs, 1 sack, and 1 FR, and he was named to a couple All-Big Ten Freshman teams. He started four games in 2013 and made 54 tackles, 4 TFLs, and 2 sacks. He became a full-time starter as a junior and made 102 tackles, 4 TFLs, 2 sacks, and 1 PBU. As a senior in 2015, his stat line was 83 tackles, 6.5 TFLs, and 1 fumble recovery.

STATS
270 tackles, 18.5 TFLs, 5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 PBU

Recruiting Update: May 10, 2016

Jamaree Salyer 904x

Atlanta (GA) Pace OG Jamaree Salyer

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018
Marietta (GA) Lassiter cornerback Derrik Allen was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’2″, 206 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Notre Dame, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #2 cornerback, and #17 overall. He’s already committed to the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. For such a big corner – though he could end up at safety – Allen is surprisingly tentative coming up to tackle. He makes some acrobatic catches, though, and is physical in press man coverage.

Cypress (TX) Ranch offensive tackle Colten Blanton was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’7″, 271 lb. prospect with offers from Oklahoma, Ole Miss, TCU, and Texas A&M, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #17 offensive tackle, and #112 overall. Blanton is very lanky at this point and almost looks like a tight end or defensive end, but he should fill out by the time he finishes high school and needs to get considerably stronger to hold up in college.

Missouri City (TX) Fort Bend Marshall offensive guard Barton Clement was offered by Michigan. He’s a 6’2″, 304 lb. prospect with offers from Baylor, Houston, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and TCU, among others. He’s a 247 Sports 4-star, the #4 offensive guard, and #70 overall. Physically, he’s very well developed at this point in his career, but he’s going to have to be an interior guy with his lack of height and length, unless he hits a growth spurt.

Hit the jump for several more 2018 offers.
