Tight end Jake Butt was drafted in the 5th round (#145 overall) by the Denver Broncos.
Butt suffered a torn ACL in the bowl game against Florida State, but he won the Mackey Award this year with 46 catches for 546 yards and 4 touchdowns. He took out an insurance policy against getting hurt, so he made several hundred thousand dollars by dropping in the draft.

He didn’t MAKE several thousand dollars by falling, he recouped some of the money he lost via an insurance policy. This makes it sound like he was better off when that’s not the case.
Anyway, Clark got drafted with a torn ACL in the 6th round and Butt with a torn ACL in the 5th round. What does that say about the two beyond the common injury?

It says that a) Clark got hurt in September while Butt got hurt in late December and b) Butt now has two ACL injuries. Other than that, I’m not sure there’s much you can glean from their draft positions.

Both good points. A) May or may not matter since 9-12 months is the typical recovery. Both should be back in 2017. But you want your rookie ready for camp. B) Is probably a bigger question IRT to being injury prone in the long run.
Still – I think there’s evidence here that some have been overrating Butt a bit (when calling him the best TE in the country) and Clark’s spot reflects the NFL’s emphasis on potential over production.
