Dantonio is such a cheeseball. Stupid gimmicks like this play when you win and look stupid when you lose. That’s the risk you take.

Different thing but same idea with the 2-QB plays. JH/Gattis would be getting credit if it worked but most certainly has not.

Anyway, I think Dantonio is mostly doing this kind of showy ritual to pretend like he’s instilling a culture of toughness beyond telling them where the pill guy is at.

Dantonio is a solid football coach but the one area where he really has Harbaugh beat is manipulating the media.

I agree. Dantonio does a lot of stuff that makes me cringe as a football coach. I can’t imagine bringing some of the stuff he does to our football program. Some of his comments to the media, wearing helmets to get off the bus, etc. We’ve had coaches on our staff who have suggested some similar things, and they were shot down by the rest of the staff. And honestly none of them have lasted. Maybe it’s because they were in it for the wrong reasons (odd masculine rituals) rather than for the competition and camaraderie.

Michigan is the #10 team in the country per S&P. PSU is 7. OSU is favored by 15 over PSU.

@WCB. Set aside your disdain for 9-3ism for a minute and answer one question for me:

Do you think Michigan is a legit top 10 team in 2019?

I see six teams (OSU, Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Georgia, Oklahoma) that appear to be clearly a notch above the rest. Michigan would be a decided underdog against any of them and rightfully so, IMO.

I see seven more teams that appear to be roughly on par with Michigan (PSU, Wisconsin, Iowa, Florida, Auburn, Utah, Oregon). The vegas favorite against Michigan would probably depend on who has home field advantage.

Then from the next group of top 20ish teams (Notre Dame, Minnesota, Indiana, TAMU, Baylor, Memphis, UCF, Washington) I see Michigan as being clear favorite, even on the road, based on overall performance to-date. If they played 10 times, Michigan wins 6 or more of them.

My answer – you may have guessed is YES.

        Win or lose against OSU.

        Michigan is back.

Michigan is back to beating the teams it is SUPPOSED to beat.
Michigan is back to being the most dangerous team on OSU’s schedule.
Michigan is back to being a top 10 team more often than not.

        Michigan is BACK.

There is one guy who deserves the lion’s share of credit for that.
        Thank you Jim Harbaugh.

The Garrett thing has me outraged, but not as outraged as everyone else.

    Against Garret.
Dude, you’re up 21-7, there is one play left in the game. There’s no possible way they win. Why are you going for those extra curriculars? Why are you retaliating against Rudolph? Why are you ripping his helmet off, and then trying to use it to kill the little guy?

    Pseudo For Garrett.
Slowing down the video makes it look like Rudolph either had his wrist stuck in Garrett’s helmet, or he was giving him the business trying to rip off Garrett’s helmet. It’s impossible to tell. I’ve heard people claim Rudolph attempted to kick him in the nuts, but I don’t see it. If you’re defending Garrett in this particular situation, I don’t know if I can say anything to you to make you think otherwise.

    Conclusion.
You don’t hit someone with a helmet. Period. That’s POS move right there. Regardless if Rudolph was giving you the business, you don’t take it to that level. Being it’s his first offense, I think a season ending suspension is justified. Anything more for his first offense I think would be a little harsh, anything less would be going too easy.
