That OL breakdown makes it seem like Onwenu could be threatened by…somebody.
I’ve heard Spannelis, Honiford, and now Vastardis – a walk-on.
I remain skeptical that there’s a real threat to usurp Big Mike. Certainly people can move around but Spannelis is a backup center now. Honiford was supposed to be a tackle and has garnered little buzz. Vastardis, again, is a walk-on who has been around for a while.
I can imagine why the coaches want to motivate Onwenu or why some might be frustrated, but The Balas-bluster was probably unfounded. If they were serious about a competition at OG they’d be putting the 6th and 7th best OL there. It doesn’t look like they are doing that at this point.
